What are the ways to generate electricity for home use?

Now a days Power cut is very disturbing our routine life.At the same time tariffs are increasing rapidly. how to manage this problem and if there any new way to generate electricity for home usage.

Electricity generated using solar power is one option. I have seen many apartments in bangalore having solar water heaters.

Using solar energy is the best option. You can also use Wind mills for generating electricity. Wind mills are rarely used in India for home usages.

Yes Solar water heaters is a good option , and in power cuts or even at other times, you can use solar lamps.. Also, you can generate a little amount of electricity from lemons! as it has citric acid (minimum 2-3 lemons would run a calculator)

In my view, Solar energy is the best option. It will not create any kind of pollution.

For using Electricity at Home solar will not be sufficient.
But we can use solar powers for our Lighting solutions and Hotels,apartments,Hospitals should use for both lighting purpose as well as for water heater purpose and also Municipality should use solar energy for street lightning (with back of other sources as it wont work in rainy season).

Then we can save lot of Energy produce from Coal which is the main reason for creating pollution in the world.
So it is a common man practice to use solar power at home for there lighting purposes to save this world from pollution and government should take some action to give subsidy so that more people will use it when they get it in a cheaper price.

Wind mills is only for specified location or else it will cost more to distribute electricity from coastal area to other places

There are many good ways to produce electricity for small use in house hold. But i think there are some law restrictions for generating electricity at home. Using solar panel is an approved one. Its the easiest way. If the force of water coming in your water connection is high, you can go for a house hold hydro project. Also you can use chemical cell where you can use the biological wastes.
