Principle: Evaporation causes cooling .

The earthen pitcher has a large number of pores. When water is placed in the vessel, it oozes out of the pores and evaporates. This evaporation causes cooling. If the same water is placed in a glass or metal container, the water cannot come out because these the liquid does not become cool.

During the summer season, we feel cool under afan. This cooling effect is again due to the evaporation of the perspitation coming out of the pores of our skin.

The watering of the streets in summer also produces a cooling effect by evaporation.
