The incidence of damage done to bones of human body by osteoporosis is rapidly increasing these days. Therefore, there is a strong need of taking immediate preventive measures which can prevent osteoporosis to great extent.
Osteoporosis which is disease of bones usually affects people in old age but ratio of women suffering from osteoporosis are more than men affected by osteoporosis. Women's bones get fractured by osteoporosis earlier than men's bones as women's bones already being less massive anatomically than men's bones get easily fractured by osteoporosis.
The incidence of damage done to bones of human body by osteoporosis is rapidly increasing these days. Therefore, there is a strong need of taking immediate preventive measures which can prevent osteoporosis to great extent. So, question is, how can you prevent osteoporosis from occurring in a person? The various preventive measures or steps which you can follow to prevent osteoporosis in a person are-
1. Skeletal loading exercises-
Skeletal loading exercises routinely doing on daily basis can prevent osteoporosis from occurring in a person.
2. High protein diet-
High protein diet not only helps in preventing osteoporosis by strengthening your bones, by helping in building bone tissue but also help in treating osteoporosis. Protein is found in high amount in milk and its derivative products like curd, buttermilk and in other food stuffs like pulses, almonds, cashew, pistachio and also in meat.
3. Eat diet rich in calcium and vitamin D-
Majority of bone's extracellular matrix is composed of calcium which gives bones their hardness and strength. Vitamin D makes your bones strong by helping in calcium absorption. Bones made strong and hard by diet rich in calcium and vitamin D are less liable to get fractured. Diet rich in calcium and vitamin D not only makes bones strong, hard and less liable to fracture but also helps in preventing osteoporosis.
Vitamin D is found in various fruits and vegetables but you can also get vitamin D from sunlight which forms vitamin D in skin by activating its various precursors. Calcium is found in milk and its derivative products like curd and buttermilk; it is also found in raisins and in various fruits like banana, dates and in various vegetables like green vegetables, in carrots and radish.
4. Bone building exercises-
Bone building exercises like running, aerobics and brisk walking do help in preventing osteoporosis, if done on daily basis. Playing tennis also help in preventing osteoporosis. So, do any of the above exercises on daily basis to have healthy bones.
So, these are various preventive measures which you can follow on daily basis to prevent osteoporosis from occurring in your bones.
