Watermelon:

Watermelon is a very delicious fruit. It also packs good amounts of Vitamins A and C. Lycopene is also present in good amount in watermelon. Lycopene is a plant chemical which helps in reducing risk of cancer, heart disease and age related vision problems. Also one cup of watermelon contains less than 50 calories. So your waistline will be safe if you consider watermelon as a substitute for calorie rich soft drinks and other items.



Avocado:

Avocado is an all-around fruit and it is used in salads, sandwiches, and guacamole. Avocado is filled with monounsaturated fats. These monounsaturated fats are heart-healthy. Avocado is found to lower LDL cholesterol level. There are good and bad cholesterol and LDL cholesterol falls on the latter category.



Sweet Potato:

A sweet potato the size of your fist gives you the daily requirement of Vitamin A. It also provides 4 grams of fibre. You can also save half the calorie if you switch to sweet potato from white potato. A medium sized white potato has about 300 calories and it is just 150 in the same size sweet potato.



Salmon:

Salmon is a fish variety. Salmon is a great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. Omega-3 fatty acids lower the risk of heart related diseases. 4 ounce serving of salmon has just 160 calories. Baked or broiled salmon can be used for main course. Salmon added with steamed broccoli and sweet potato form low calorie nutritious meal.



Raspberries:

Mix Raspberries with plain yogurt and you will get a wonderful dessert. Raspberries are highly useful for sugar craving people. But they keep your calorie level to a minimum. It is estimated that a one cup serving of fresh raspberries has just 60 calories. Raspberries are also a rich source of vitamin B, flavonoids, fiber, and vitamin C.



Onions:

Onion has quercetin, which is a plant chemical. Researchers have found that quercetin has anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. Onion has proved to be protective against various diseases including cancer. A cup full of chopped onions has just 60 calories.



Yogurt:

Yogurt is a dairy product. It is produced by fermenting milk using bacteria. Yogurt is a rich supplement of protein. It provides high amount of protein which is useful in body building and adding some extra muscles to your body. If you add one pound of muscle to your body, it will burn about 35 to 50 calories daily. Per cup yogurt has 160 calories.



Quinoa:

A quarter cup of quinoa provides 3 grams of fibre and 6 grams of protein. It keeps blood sugar level stable and thus satisfies your appetite and you will not fell like like eating again and again. For diabetes patients, quinoa can be used as carbohydrate alternative to white rice and pasta. One serving of cooked quinoa contains about 172 calories.

But I have read in newspaper that scientists has proved that eating any food can not help us to reduce weight. Whom can I believe to be correct?
