Flaxseeds are also a good source of fibre and lignin. Lignin is an antioxidant which helps in preventing breast cancer. An antioxidant called pterostilbene is present in blueberries in high amount. This antioxidant is found to have cancer fighting properties. Regular intake of blueberries helps to improve memory, motor skills, blood pressure and metabolism. Wild blueberries have the highest concentration of anthocyanin. Anthocyanin is a powerful antioxidant. Blueberries contain about 80 calories per cup. This amount is lower than the calorie concentration of a lot of other fruits. So you can eat plenty of blueberries without worrying about the waistline.
