One can never have enough of household tips since there is so much to do within your household, your kitchen and to yourself that any new suggestion or tip is most welcome. I am writing down a few more household and beauty tips that I sincerely hope,comes in handy!
1, Most of us get fed up of dealing with mosquitoes. However, it is a menace that has to be tackled on a daily basis and we have to use mats, liquids etc to keep them away. When and if you run out of mosquito mats, put a few slightly crushed garlic flakes on the machine. This is an economical and most effective repellent there is.
2, Maintaining silver articles and silver jewelry is not an easy task, since they oxidise easily with exposure and need to be polished. There is an easy solution to this - Take a plastic box and line it with paper napkins and dust flour on it .Store your silver jewelry in this box after thoroughly coating the jewelry with more flour. When you want to use them, all that you need to do is wipe off the flour with a clean cotton cloth.
3, In most humid places we notice that photos that have been put in albums tend to stick to the plastic .To avoid this brush some talcum powder on the photographs before placing them in the album. This way they will not stick to the plastic cover.
4, After continued use we sometimes notice that the mixer blades have lost their sharpness. Instead of going in for a new set of blades doing the following can help. Powder egg shells in your mixer and this will effectively sharpen the blades. The powder can be used for scrubbing bathroom tiles or cement floors.
5, During deepavali festival we light dias in large numbers and some people use kerosene stoves where wicks are used. Soaking the wicks in vinegar and drying them before using will ensure a smoke free light and the wicks last longer.
6, Used tea leaves can be boiled in a glass of water . The drained water can be used to wipe the window panes. Dip cloth or old newspaper in the tea solution and wipe the window panes and see how they sparkle!
7, Maintaining a thermos flask is not an easy task ! To remove the foul odor that sometimes comes from the flask, rinse it with hot water to which a little vinegar or lime juice has been added. Leave it open for sometime after which rinse again with warm water.
8, Curd has many uses besides complementing our meals. It can be used to rub clear oil stains from our clothes. Mix curds with some salt and apply this mixture on the oil stains. Leave it for an hour after which wash the cloth with soap and water.
9, For those who live in small houses need to use of every little space and corner. One can get more out of the cupboards. The outside of your cupboard door can hold a lot, just use some innovative ideas like fixing a set of hooks to hang clothes, bags ,belts etc. For smaller accessories you can use scraps of material and make a hold all with multiple pockets in which handkerchiefs, socks and scarves can be stored and they remain within easy reach of you.
1, You can add glow to your complexion by doing the following - Boil some water and add a handful of mint leaves and a pinch of turmeric powder. Steam your face for two minutes while this water is boiling. See and feel the difference.
2, Make a nourishing cream at home. In a bowl empty out the normal face cream that you use every day. To this add five capsules each of Vitamin E and Vitamin A capsules and mix well with a spatula. Fill the cream back into its container. You now have a wonderful nourishing cream that really cares for and nourishes your skin.
3, Mix 2 beaten eggs with a table spoonful of coconut oil, Glycerin and Vinegar. Apply this lotion to your hair thoroughly especially the roots. Leave it on for half an hour and shampoo your hair. Your hair will look bouncy and will have an added gloss.
4, To remove black patches from your elbows and knees , apply a mixture of a tea spoonful of Lemon juice, cucumber juice and tomato juice mixed with a pinch of sugar. Keep it on for 15 minutes and gently rub off with cool water. If you do this regularly you will see a noticeable difference in the skin tone.
5, Hair care has to come from within. No matter how many shampoos and conditioners you use unless the basics are right it will not make much of a difference. Eating right and drinking 8-10 glasses of water per day really helps. Regularly oiling the hair is another very important factor that has long times benefits since the roots get strengthened.
