Easy-to-Follow Tips for a 'Go-Green' Lifestyle

Here are some small steps for a go-green lifestyle that can bring about a big change and reduce the effects of global warming.


Saving enery and environment is the need of the hour and we can make a huge difference by just following few simple steps.
Green and eco-friendly living is highly recommended as it can contribute our fair share to reduce the global warming effects and also helps us to lead a simple and economic life.

1. Avoid plastic bags as much as possible. Get a reusable shopping bag made of cloth or fiber, which can be washed often. Always remember to carry your shopping bag while going for grocery or weekend shopping. It can eliminate the use of plastic bag drastically. Carry bags made out of cardboard too are available.

2. Save electricity. Switch off the lights, fans, air-conditioners and other appliances when not in use. Also try to minimize the use of such appliances on a daily basis. Make a habit to switch off the lights while leaving a room. People tend to forget about it and the lights keep glowing for hours, wasting energy and electricity.

3. Save water. Optimize the usage of water by planning a full load of laundry for washing machine. Turn the faucet off while brushing teeth, doing a shave and while lathering up dishes at the sink.

4. Optimize the use of fuel either by choosing mass public transport or by carpooling. This idea is being followed in many organizations today. It saves energy as well as mental pressure while driving.

5. Choose bio-degradable products when needed. A variety of such recycled products are readily available at stores, such as bio-degradable plates, paper cups and containers.

6. Keep separate dustbins for recyclable and non-recyclable wastes. And leave the waste materials at appropriate bins.

7. Turn off the computer overnight. Many of us tend to keep the computers switched on or in sleep mode for long hours. This causes the electricity to drain.

8. Reduce the use of tissue-papers as much as possible.

9. Teach your young ones to follow these steps.

10. Plan your meals ahead and shop accordingly. This will help in stopping food wastage.

These are the simple steps which anyone can follow by practice. Global warming is a major concern and its very important to do our best to reduce its effects.
