Prepare Shrikhand at home

Shrikhand is nothing but falvoured yoghurt(curd). It is a famous sweet dish of Western India


Shrikhand is nothing but falvoured yoghurt(curd). It is a famous sweet dish of Western India.


4 cups: Curds/Yoghurt
3/4 cups. sugar
1 tbsp warm milk
1/2 tsp. cardamom powder
few strands saffron
1/2 tbsp. pista & almond (spliced)


1. Pour the curd into a bowl through a clean muslin/cheese cloth, gently squeeze it, and put in the refrigirator for 6-8 hours to drain the water completely out of yoghurt.

2. Dip the saffron into the milk to let it dissolve. Keep aside.

3. Take a bowl, add the yoghurt mass, sugar, the dissolved saffron and cardamom. Mix well till sugar is dissolved.

4. Finally, add the pista and the almond pieces.

Now, Shrikhand is ready to be savoured and enjoyed.

Thanks for a wonderful recipe. I haven't heard of this till now. The process involved is also very simple indeed. So would definitely try this recipe at home and would give you feedback too.

This is a North Indian dish.
It was using for improvement there immunity. when ever King was going out side of home they believe that if they eat it then he can fight and win with any one which has now turn that sweet curd eating before going for any work brings good luck.

So we are just following our ancients in other way
