How to choose a laptop

Factors to consider while buying laptop is discussed. Every factor is considered.


There are lot of factors to look upon while buying a laptop. Today they are very powerful than the normal desktop computers. Slowly they becoming lighter and performance is increasing. Sales of laptop are increasing at rapid rate. Today many are opting for laptop than desktop computers. They can be carried every where. We can browse while traveling. There are lot of advantages for choosing a laptop.

Laptop is costlier than desktop computer. we should look up on various factors for buying it. There are lot of laptops available in market with different sizes and capacities. The factors we should consider while buying a laptop is discussed here.

Processor : Processor is generally called as CPU. It must have good bus speed and processor speed. Now many processors are available in the market. Intel launched high end processors recently named i5, i7 processors. i7 Processor has 6 cores. Previously Intel has pentium processors up to p4 . Then it launched dual core processor, core 2 Duo processor and quad core processor. Quad core processor has 4 cores. Quad core processor processing capabilities are very higher. If you want high end configuration then go for Quad core or i5 or i7 processor. If your needs are extremely low then buy core2Duo processor.

One more important factor is Processor cache. Previously only 1MB cache is available for Core2Duo processor. Now up to 8MB cache is available for i7 processor. Cache plays an major role in processing. If it is higher, then processing is done at extremely faster rate. So while buying, check the cache.

Screen Size :
Today wider screens are available for laptops. Now upto 21 inches screen are available. But they are costlier. If screen size increased, then automatically weight increases. Then carrying it is a big problem. So 17 inches is very ideal for laptops.

One more important factor is resolution. In general resolution is 800 x 600. Now more resolution screens are available. They are available up to 1600 x 1200. Due to more resolution, it results in more pixels. Due to more pixels, image is more clarity. So if you want to do high end things then choose wider screen and more resolution.

RAM(Primary Memory) : Now every manufacturer is providing atleast 3 GB memory. If more memory, then result in more speed. Here also we should check on bus speed. If you want to do works at faster rate, then choose more memory. Before buying the laptop, check the maximum memory that laptop supports. In future, you may need more memory. So check the things completely.

Keyboard : After buying the laptop, if you are not satisfied then we can't replace the keyboard. So make sure that if you are comfortable with keyboard or not. You should comfortable with the touch of the keyboard. If they are hard, then it is not a good keyboard. Check the sensitivity of the keyboard.

Pointing Device : Check how the pointing device is working. check whether it is touch pad or track ball. Make sure that you are comfortable with the pointing device. If you are at home, then we can connect the mouse to it. But if we are on traveling, it should not create a problem. So check it thoroughly.

Optical Drive : Check whether it is Blue ray Supported or DVD supported. Now Blue ray is slowly developing. In future everything is Blue Ray discs. So for feature use, make sure it supports Blue ray Discs. Optical drives are useful for backing up all your data.

Hard disk : It is called as secondary memory. Hard disk should be at least 160 GB. Now due to the latest technology, everything is occupying more size. Blue ray films are occupying more size upto 10 GB. So choose more memory. Now every vendor is providing atleast 300 GB.

USBPorts : Select a laptop which has more USB ports. It should have atleast 3 USB ports. Now Firewire port is very common. So check whether the laptop has this port. USB ports are needed to connect digital cameras, external disks, mp3 players, external mouse etc.

Connectivity : Make sure that laptop has wireless connectivity. Now every laptop supports Wi-Fi connectivity. But you check the list once. We can surf the internet using laptop in Wi-Fi enabled zone. Make sure that laptop has Bluetooth facility for connecting various devices and wireless network card for internet.

Battery : A battery which supports long run should be consider. You should work on while traveling. So it is necessary to choose battery which supports long run. And due to the high end configuration, more power is required. So choose the battery very careful.

Graphic card: If you want play high end games, then laptop must have atleast 256 MB Graphic card. Now every game is possesing high end graphics. And laptop must be able to support 3D. So check all these factors.
