Mother's Voice Has A Great Importance For The Development And Growth Of Newborn Baby's Brain

December 22, 2010  by: RITURAJ BANERJEE  Points: 12   Category: General Science  Earning $0.50   Views: 1161

Study shows that the newborns brain is very sensitive to its mothers voice which helps very much for the development of the areas of brain especially associated with learning a language.

The scientists came to an interesting conclusion that the baby's brain is very sensitive to its mother's voice after observing and maintaining a record of electrical signals just between 24 hours of their birth. The research was performed jointly by the scientists of Montreal University and the Sainte Justine Hospital Research Centre. The scientists analysed the electrical signals thoroughly and observed that the new-borns' brain reacted to every voice they heard but the most significant and interesting part is that their brains reacted so strongly in comparison with others when hearing their mother's voice. It proves unanimously that in every respect, the mother's voice is something special to the newborns and the babies' brains have the ability to discrete it from the other voices heard by them. Dr. Maryse Lassonde, department of Psychology, the Montreal University who is one of the leading scientists of this interesting research has revealed this interesting incident.
This research may be called an epoch-making and revolutionary because though the brain signals were analyzed before but it is the first time that this test has been performed on such little babies whose ages are merely few hours.

The test has been performed in a unique way.16 babies were taken for the test and electrodes were attached to their heads when sleeping. Then the scientists requested the mothers to make a voice by pronouncing the first vowel of English language - that is "A".They were also requested to speak "allo",a French word. The test was then performed repeatedly in front of the nurse who brought a particular baby to the lab. When the baby heard it's mother's voice, the left hemisphere part of it's brain reacted so strongly.Left hemisphere of brain is known for the activity to analyze the language recognition and processing by stimulating the motor skills circuit. On the other hand, when the baby heard an unknown voice, the right hemisphere part became excited which acts of identifying the voice. So,it has been proved clinically that the mother's voice has the ability to communicate with their babies.A hospital nurse was also involved in this test who herself was a mother of a newborn. The mothers of the babies got the chance to interact and be aware of the test by keeping in touch with her in a regular basis before the babies took birth. Voice of the mothers was taken into count by the method of speech analysis to differentiate the mother's voice with the others.
Before this test, the scientists already knew that a baby's brain has some sort of inborn capabilities to identify and distinguish a specific language but till now it was unknown how the total function actually works. This starts when a baby hears the pronunciation of "A". The strange part is that though he/she never saw how to give the shape of the mouth to speak that letter,he/she automatically tries to imitate the sound of "A" by making and moving his mouth similar to that shape which is quite surprising. This test proves that the baby's mother is his/her first teacher to learn a particular language. The study also discovers that there is a link between the motor skills circuit and the language learning which starts much before the baby's birth. This test which has received a huge response among the scientists' circle, has been funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada .

A child learns a lot from his parents and especially his mother. Mother play a very important role in how the child develops as the child learns how to talk and behave from the mother. Its the mother who makes her child understand how to behave in public and the intelligence of the child also depends on the mother. If the mother teaches a lot to her child at an early age he will have capability to learn anything very fast.

Yeah, and even at womb, it is still the mother who had the great influence over how the baby would develop. Thats why OB's suggest to mothers that aside from helthy nutrition, mothers can also listen to musics, talk to their babies, and give them pampers while still at womb.
