Depression is not bodily aliment like a cold or cough. It is truly in much more complex area, but becoming more manageable to heal. It is basically more a sort of reaction to events and situations which have not happened in line with our expectations. And when we are in a state of depression we tend to cover ourselves with pessimistic thoughts which only drive us deeper into the quagmire of depression and strangely during this depression we seem to have a clear preview of the uncertain future.

The earliest signs of depression are easy to notice. The victim is consumed with pessimism and a morbid attitude. The person is sure that he or she has been misunderstood, handed a result which he or she does not deserve, made to exercise a decision more out of compulsion than by choice and so on. But even during these early stages if the victim is aware that this mental state is addressable, amenable to treatment by medication, counseling, then this is good. This awareness is very important because it keeps at bay the depressive thoughts and attitudes and more important the inherent inertia or the tendency to procrastinate taking remedial steps.

Depression is characterized by a feeling of helplessness, hopelessness. And hope is an illusion that belongs to the future. And this hope can be turned into possible reality by action alone and not by inaction. The future is full of probabilities. In depression it is important to take meaningful actions to exit out of this state. Depression wears a melancholy face. Depression saps your will. Depression wears you down. The best time to get out of the depression is in the beginning when you have the blues.

There are many symptoms which helps to know whether a person is suffering from depression or not. If the depression is not treated at early age then it may keep on growing and may harm the person.

In a slight notice of the symptoms who had mentioned, Constant communication is the best way to combat depression. This is the time where family members, and close friends are needed the most.

Well written article Dr.Simran. Also, communication is an important factor to reduce it. Also, people who live alone or are used to being in isolation tend to get into depression easily. At times, such people also get addicted to drugs, smoking and alcohol. All that can have a really bad affect on one's health. Even the weather can cause a lot of depression. Over 20 percent of people in Seattle, US commit suicide due to depression caused by the dull weather here. You have really done a good work here, sharing these tips.
