Healthy Diet is the key of Happy Life

Healthy diet is essential for everybody. We must pay attention on our food. Be very choosy while deciding about the food. There must be right proportion of Carbohydrates, Protein, Fats, Vitamins, Minerals and Water in our daily intake.

         

In today's fast life, there are a lot of choices of food. Different kinds of the foods or food items are available in market. They are not necessarily sufficient to provide you balanced healthy diet. A healthy diet is a diet which contains all kind of required substances in right proportion. It should be able to provide us energy, strength, good health and protect us from various diseases. Followings are the substances which must be the part of our healthy diet.

Carbohydrates


Carbohydrates are an essential component of our food. It contains many nutrients and fiber. It is a source of energy. There are two types of it: Starch and Sugar. Sugars are sweet in taste and it is dissolvable in water. Fruits and milk contain sugars. On the other hand Starch is not sweet and it doesn't dissolve in water. Potatoes, carrots, fruit, rice and pasta are main source of starch. According to a research around 50-60% of your daily calorie intake should be fulfilled by Carbohydrates.

Fiber , a type of carbohydrate, is also known as roughage. It is found in fruits and vegetables. It keeps our digestive system's functioning smooth. We cannot digest fiber. It prevents us from indigestion and constipation.

Protein


High protein diets are very good for health. Source of protein is beans, nuts, cheese and milk. Whether you want to increase your muscles or want to be lean, gain weight or lose weight, Protein rich diet is ideal for you. It is good for growth and repair of body tissues. It contains amino-acids that are very essential for making various types of cells in body for example hair, muscles, nails etc. Our food should contain 10 to 15% protein of our diet.

Fats


Fats support to regulate body functioning. It provides energy and warmth to the body. But it is not good to consume fatty food in excess. Unused fats are stored in different areas of the body. Excess fat can have adverse effects on our health. It is better to keep away from yourself from the fast foods because fast foods are very rich in fats. There are two types of fats ; saturated and unsaturated.

Saturated fats : These are responsible for increasing the cholesterol levels. These fats are found in animal and dairy products such as milk, cheese, cream and meat. Excess consumption of saturated fats can increase the undesired cholesterol level in the blood which can later lead to heart attack.

Unsaturated fats
: Vegetable products and vegetable oils are the source of unsaturated fats. They are liquid at room temperature.

Vitamins


Vitamins are very much required to keep our body healthy. There are many sources of vitamins. Fruits, milk and vegetables are very rich in different kinds of vitamins. There are 15 types of vitamins which are needed for accomplishing various processes in body. Deficiency of vitamins can lead to various diseases. Here is a list of it.

Vitamin A - Eye diseases
Vitamin B - Beriberi, Anemia
Vitamin C - Scurvy
Vitamin D - Rickets

Minerals


Minerals are the substances which also keep our body healthy. They are inorganic in nature. They are also required in small quantity in order to keep us healthy. Examples of minerals are Calcium, Iron, iodine, magnesium, sodium, zinc etc. Calcium is a mineral which is required to build healthy and strong teeth. It is also useful to make our bones strong. Source of calcium is milk, cheese, green vegetables and cereals. Zinc improves our immunity power. Iron is required for producing blood cells. Following is the list of diseases which caused by deficiency of various minerals.

Iron - Anemia
Iodine - Goiter
Calcium - Bleeding

Water


Water is a life giving substance. We can not survive without it. Our body contains over 60% of water. It is an essential and inevitable part of our diet. We lose water in the form of sweat and urine. So we must take required quantity of water every day. An average adult should take at least 8 glasses or 2 Liter water per day.

So before taking food, just think about the items which you are going to consume. Be careful and choosy about your diet. A balanced diet is the key of happy and healthy life.

Kumresh you have mentioned what Elements our body needs to stay healthy.
This is a fantastic and simple explanation for common man.

I just want to add some more points in to it we should always eat our Natural food like fruits,more quantity of vegetables and home made cooked food,instead of always eating the road side junk food which has proteins,calories but due to unhygienic it is very bad for our health and we spend money to have junk foods but it costs more than the actual cost because in later it is the main cause of our hospital expenses.

So please avoid junk foods.
always have you meals at your home and add some fruits in your daily meal to keep your body fit and healthy.
Drink lot of water everyday around 3 liter minimum to digest your food
