The Legend of Hua Mulan

The story of a woman who is an inspiration to us all for the sacrifices she made, and the determination she had.

This is the story of an unknown hero. I would say the legend of Hua Mulan is the most thrilling and a sad one. In Ancient China, though the actual dates are not specified, the Ballad of Mulan (mulan- mu means 'wood' and lan means 'orchid') has grown popular. It tells the story of a young woman who, to save her ailing father, takes his place and joins the army impersonated/ing as a boy, and fights for her nation. It is to be noted that this lady braves the war at a time when it is a death penalty for a girl to talk in public without permission, let alone impersonation; not only that, this young lady, rises to the ranks of a general and saves her kingdom from enemies against all odds, and thus gets recognition as the brave general, and is pardoned for impersonation from the emperor himself. After that she retires to take care of her father.

Such a noble dedication and courage is rarely seen in people these days. Is there any child who would risk their sakes for their parents?
HATS OFF to Hua Mulan (whether a figment of a poets imagination or a real legend) for being a model child, woman, and a leader.
