With a tag of United Kingdom's first designer tablet, the Pierre Cardin PC-7006 is indeed the trendier tablets available today. The leather case that covers the gadget gives it a more professional look. However, the tablet finds itself on the heavier side.

Appearance and display
The Pierre Cardin PC-7006 has a sleek design that has as low dimensions as 19.5 X 12.3 X 1.4 cm. the Pierre Cardin tablet is probably the heaviest with more than 500g - 520g to be specific. The tablet comes with a 7" screen with 800 X 480 pixel resolution. The multi-touch options give more control to the users. However, it could have been better in the terms of the clarity. But as far as the appearance is concerned, the tablet indeed looks like a designer one. The bear thickness with slanting corners makes it look quite attractive.

Technical specifications
The operating system used by the tablet is Google Android 2.2 (Froyo) and runs on a 1GHz Samsung S5PV210 Cortex-A8 processor. The 4GB internal storage is available in the tablet that comes with a 512MB RAM and SD card support. The PC-7006 tablet is equipped with a 1.2MP camera. You will be able to shoot 720p HD videos as well.

You will find that the tablet supports both the Wi-Fi (802.11b/g) as well as 3G. The tablet runs on a Lithium 4400mAh battery that can comfortably give you a backup of up to 8 hours.

User or an Expert's review
One of the grater drawbacks of the tablet is the uneven distribution of weight. You can so gauge it by holding it in one hand - one side looks heavier than the other. You will find a home button like the one on the iPhone 4 apart from 3 buttons, with physical presence. But what you will not find is a button for the volume control, may be annoying at times to use the same on the taskbar.

The tablet has presence of a couple of mini USB ports. If you would like to get hooked to the TV set, there is the HDMI connection and a SD card that can give support to 16GB.

The downside of the tablet is that it has more than one to mention. First of all, it's the operating system. The tablet still uses the older version of Android - 2.2. The surprising thing is that when there are OSs like the Android 2.3 Gingerbread or event the Android 3.1 Honeycomb that come in around the same price tag. Why would then anyone want to go with the older version?

Another drawback is the battery backup and charging. It needs the mains adaptor only and cannot be charged with a USB charging device. The standby period in the 7" tablets can be as high as up to 14 hours - the HTC Flyer being one of the examples, the other being PlayBook (10 hours). The battery and the backup period are the two most disappointing features that are looked at with great hope by their users.

The heavyweight tablet is tagged at around Rs. 20,500 in India and £275 in the international market.
