Modern commercialized fast life has made many of us frustrated and dejected in life. Selfishness and unhealthy competitions have made life depressed and polluted. Man is trying hard to find ways and means for survival.

         

What Nathaniel Branden said about self-esteem is true in the modern life. "Without healthy self-esteem, you could have everything but your life could still be a wreck." Self-esteem has become the most essential quality of the day. It is the successful to face the world which has become a sad place to live in. Recession, tension at work, tormenting worries, stressful running, conflicts at home and other places and ever-increasing problems of life can put you down. They can place you in a miserable and precarious condition. They will strip you of all your self-esteem and leave you in an abandoned corner.

The first step for your failure will be from your own low self-esteem. If you can make yourself stand erect at every situation and keep up your self-esteem, you can come out successful everywhere.

Here are seven essential tips for boosting your self-esteem.

1) Pat on your back

Yes, compliment yourself. Instead of expecting your friend to tell you that you look good in your new suit, or you have done a good job, go ahead and compliment yourself. Do not think that it is something against your politeness or humility. Rather, it will enhance your positive approach in everything.

2) Give yourself a make over

A make over is the greatest way to boost self-esteem. You are in no way inferior in anything. Put on your best clothes and make your own picture the most beautiful one. I do not mean that you should visit a spa daily and spend a lot for make up. Put on the best you have so that your feelings and emotions will be on the high.

3) Maintain a good physique

Work out to maintain a good physique which can boost your emotions and keep you fit. Do not think that you need to look like James Bond or Bruce Lee. But you can shed your extra pounds and keep you fit in body and mind. Besides keeping you physically fit, it can boost your positive energy also.

4) Change your unwanted habits

You may have certain habits in you that you may dislike. Change them step by step. Try to understand your own plus and minus points and develop your positive attitudes. Sometimes you may have dislikes which are shallow and superficial. Realization of your own likes and dislikes can help you a lot.

5) Spare sometime to treat yourself

You may be engaged in doing things for others, in spending time in the office for earning or attending household chores. It is all something spent in misery or wallowing in self-pity. But set aside a 'quality time' for your own fun. Call it 'Me' time because it is completely yours. You need it for your own fun.

6) Get away from negative energy

There may be people who put you down. Get away from people who put you down. These people cannot stand the fact that you are happy. Such people, most likely, will lead empty lives themselves. They will pull you down and fill you with negative energy.

7) Do something good

Try to be a 'good Samaritan'. What you do for others will reflect on you. Do something good for some whenever and wherever you get a chance. Your good deeds will fill you with positive energy and make you enjoy life with others.

Right said Paulose, pampering once self by giving or doing something for self helps a lot in raising self esteem.
