Manusmrti created a world record on Sturday 5, November 2011 by passing the IPS Officers' Exam and entering police department as the fourth generation member of Prasad family. The family has served the department since 1921, now more than 90 years.

An Indian woman made a new world record in police history. Her family has served in the police department for 90 years and she is the fourth generation woman to enter police service. Manusmriti created world history at the IPS officers' passing out parade in Hyderabad's Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy on Saturday 5 November, 2011.

Manusmriti Prasad, a police officer from Hyderabad, opened a new chapter in world record as the woman officer who became the fourth generation of a family serving in police department continuously since 1921. Her great-grandfather Prasad joined the police service in 1921 and now the great-granddaughter Manusmriti Prasad passed IPS Officers' Examination and joined the police service a few hours ago.

A new world record

It is very rare to find members of the same family serving in a department, that too in police department. But for Prasad family it has been a meritorious prestige to serve the nation through this service. Her her grandfather Arbind Prasad was a cop and her father Kamlendra Prasad is still serving as an IPS officer.

Manusmriti's family inscribed a new record in police history as a family serving the department for four generations. By this her family overcame the only such reported case in the world which is of a family in Vancouver, Canada that has been in the police service for 82 years.

A proud family that has made world record

When Manusmriti Prasad was opening the new chapter of world record at the passing-out parade in Hyderabad, it was proudly watched by her serving IPS father and her retired grandfather. The family proudly commemorated how it has been serving the nation all these 90 years, first under the British until Independence in 1947, and afterwards the Republic India. By the entry of Manusmriti in police service, her family stands atop as the single family serving the police department for 90 continuous years, and the longest by any family in the country as well as in the world.
