The power of luck has been an aspiration of all throughout human history. Most of the people have great belief in luck and have been trying their best to seize it.


Luck has been a great mystery of humanity from centuries. In every civilization there had been a lot of rituals and superstitions to grab the fruit of luck. Still there are a lot of attempts to seize the power of luck.

The great question of luck

Science is still searching for the answer for the unfathomable question why some people are lucky and others are not. There have been researches to find out if there are any methods to achieve luck practically. Richard Wiseman, who studied thousands of men and women of various walks of life about the power of luck in their lives, has given some tips to bring luck to ones life. He studied the general characteristics of lucky and unlucky people.

Four Tips to Enjoy Good Luck in Life

1) Live a charming life

Scientific studies in the life of lucky people suggest that they basically have certain qualities which make their lives successful. They seize chance opportunities, while the unlucky people not even realize those chances. They create self-fulfilling prophecies through positive expectations, while others neglect them in their negative attitude. They adopt a resilient attitude that even turns down bad luck.

2) Open heartedness

Lucky people consider chance opportunities with open hearts. Unlucky people are always suspicious and reluctant. Unlucky people usually ignore the chances of luck and turn away their looks. They miss chance opportunities because they seem to be too busy looking for something else. But lucky people see what is there rather than just what they are looking for.

Luck comes to the person who is ready to grab it. For example, just imagine that you are living in the center of an orchard and you have to collect a basket of apples. In the beginning, it may not matter where you look. The entire orchard will have apples. Gradually, it may become difficult to find apples in the places you had visited earlier. If you go to new parts of the orchard each time, the odds of finding apples will increase dramatically as well. It is exactly what happens with luck also.

3) Counter-factual thinking

Dealing with misfortune is another important principle revolving around the way in which lucky and unlucky people react. Suppose you won a bronze medal in an athletic event and imagine that in the next event you do better and win a silver medal, you may think that you will be happier. But researches suggest that when you won bronze you would be happier than your winning silver in the next one. The psychologists say that the bronze medalist focus on how if they had performed slightly worse, they would not have won anything. This they call the ability to imagine what might have happened rather than what actually happened and they name it 'counter-factual thinking'.

4) Learning to be lucky

Thoughts and behavior of a person can enhance good luck. Learn to be more open to opportunities around you. Learn to break routines. Learn how to deal with bad luck, by imagining things being worse. Lucky people seem to be happier and satisfied in life. Not dwelling on the negative side is the attitude of good luck.

Experience shows that thoughts and behavior affect the good and bad luck. Look at life positively and it will bring you luck!
