Fruit juices and vegetable juices are becoming popular everywhere. They are good for health. They are junk-free and are excellent nutrients.


There is a South Indian Tamil saying that means, "Eat juices and drink solids". We must drink juices in such a way that they give the maximum benefit to the body. Juices contain nutrients and build up the immunity power of the body.

A recent study conducted in the US has concluded that people who drank three-plus servings per week of juices high in antioxidant- found in purple grape, grapefruit, cranberry, and apple juice- had a 76 percent lower risk of developing Alzheimer's disease and cancer. It is very essential for children.

Ten tips for healthy use of juices

1) Fruit juice obtained from fruits by direct extraction is an ideal preparation for health. It contains 100% fruit essence without added sweeteners, along with simple carbohydrates, sorbitol, rich vitamin C and A, and minerals like potassium and calcium.

2) Fruit juices are calorie-rich and so guarantee weight gain for children. They help digestion and encourage children eating normal food. Children grow well.

3) Attractively packed fruit juices can be much helpful to the growing kids. Nowadays they are not too expensive for middle class people. Children need only a half of an orange to get the required vitamin C.

4) Pediatricians recommend fruit juices for infants below 6 months of age. They are also easily digestible for infants.

5) Besides fruit juices, vegetable juices are also healthy and nutrient. Nowadays vegetable juice bars are becoming popular in India to meet the juice needs. For example, regular drinking of bitter gourd juice is good for diabetes patients.

6) Juice diet can slim the body and cleanse the harmful toxins of the body. Naturopathy recommends this diet for many diseases.

7) Juicing will encourage and improve absorption of food nutrients into the body. Vegetable juicing is preferable over fruit juicing because fruit juice often increases insulin levels and may also lead to obesity.

8) Mixture of vegetables can be used. Mix the pulp of a vegetable back into the juice because it is very high in fiber. This fiber helps with elimination and promotes beneficial bacteria levels within the colon.

9) Juicing is better than eating raw vegetables. One can have many vegetables in juicing which is difficult in mere eating. It helps you consume an optimum amount of vegetables and get needed energy.

10) It is ideal to drink vegetable juice immediately after juicing. If necessary, they can carefully be stored for up to 24 hours with only a moderate nutritional loss.

Vegetable and fruit juices are good for people of all age groups. But your regular diet should not be neglected. Another warning is about the allergic conditions of some vegetables or fruits.
