Dev Anand died at the age of 88, leaving an image of the eternal lover

The great Dev Anand is no more. He died in London and as per reports he will be cremated there itself.

Very few people make an impact as Dev Anand. Some make an impact and fade away, but Dev Anand not only made an impact but didnt fade away. He remained in the limelight for 65 years, something very few people can boast off. Right from his first film in 1946 to 1965, Dev Anand hogged the lime light as no once else. A look back during these 65 years will show that Dev anand was an actor with a mission. A man who worked ceaselessly and churned out hit after hit that endearedhim to the people as no one else.

Dev Anand starred with almost all heroines from Geeta Bali, Nutan, Zenat Aman, Tina Mumin, Nanda, Kalpana and tens of others. He was a romantic star and coupled with his good looks created the image of the eternal lover. His movies like Hare Ram Hare Krishna, Guide, Hum Dono, Baazi, Kala Pani, Pocket Maar etc will never be forgotton. He remained till the end the good boy of the Hindi screen.

Dev Anand had a torrid love affair with Suraiya the singing star, with whom he starred in 6 films. But they never married as Suraiya, a Muslim was prevailed upon by her family members and a ultra rabid Urdu press not to marry Dev who was a Hindu. It was a sad end to love and Suraiya never married after that. Hoever Dev did not allow this affair to affect his creativity and under his banner of "navketan films' continued his artistic adventures with 35 films. He acted as hero in over a 100 films and even the greats of Hollywood will be shaded by him.

Dev Anand loved a life ful of joy and work In fact he equated joy with work and is an excellent example to younger men how ot live ones life. He was a truly great man. He was awarded the Padma Vibhusan, but perhaps the government could consider him for a Bhart Ratna. He deserves it for service to Indian cinema and the joy he brought to millions.
