Come To The House: The Advent Invitation

December 09, 2011  by: Paulose  Points: 15   Category: Inspirational Stories    Views: 480

The Advent is an invitation to reach our real house. It is an invitation sent throughout centuries. It is the same invitation sent by Isaiah 2,700 years ago. It is still fresh and clear and everyone of us is a special guest invited.

Have you ever seen the magnificent and massive building, the house of your own? Yes it is your own and you have inherited it by all rights. It is not an imaginary prattle of a mad man or unknown person. It is to this house that Isaiah, the prophet of seventh century BC, invites all to go. "It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be raised above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, and many peoples shall come, and say: "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.'" (Isaiah 2:2-3)

The magnificent house

The Advent is the time to think of your own house. Just imagine your house which Isaiah had in vision so many centuries ago. He describes his vision in detail. He describes that the house is so big and massive that it can accommodate entire populations. He shows the picture of "many peoples" who were streaming towards this house. There they can get all guidance. They can receive proper counseling and instruction. There they can enjoy a peaceful life. Though the road towards that house may not be so easy to walk, you can reach there if you just listen to God's invitation and are willing to go towards it. Every Advent, practically every dawn, is a a repetition and reminder of that loving invitation, "Come to my house." That Noble Heavenly Father is waiting for you to accept His invitation and turn towards Him. He is quite eager to meet you.

The change that the Advent suggests

The Advent reminds you of the change that gives you life. God speaks through the words of Isaiah and gives some tips to reach the house and live there peacefully. He wishes that peace and joy should be your inheritance now itself at the place where you are at present. He suggests to put aside all the weapons you have now. "And they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah 2: 4)

When you take weapons, you experience only tension and depression. They yield only conflicts and wars. What else can your bitterness, sarcasm, isolation, and finding fault with others yield? God wants you to gather all your strength that you have wasted on these weapons. Instead, use your energy to sow seeds of peace and harmony. You can experience the peace and unity now itself at the very place you are if you can aspire for this house and do live as per these tips.

The Advent reminds "Emmanuel"

The season of Advent reminds often that God lives with us. It is a reminder of God's affectionate arrival to meet His children. It is an "Emmanuel" through preparations in our life. He is the Santa Who comes with a promise. Just ask Him. He comes with a promise of healing. He comes with the same words, "I will come and heal him." (Matthew 8: 7)
