How to stay fit this Christmas? In between Thanksgiving and Christmas, it is common to gain four or five pounds. This is common if you do not have a regular work out schedule. Here are simple tips to avoid Christmas weight gain this year.
Dieting and holidays do not seem to be a perfect match. Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year make your winter schedule horribly busy. There is less or no time left to exercise. As a result, you gain a few pounds and no longer fit into your favorite skinny jeans or the hot black dress. True, you have enough chores to do and lot of baking, cooking or partying during December. However, do not make it an excuse to skip your workout schedule.
Stay Fit this Christmas
Well, we eat thrice a day, all the year. Then, why do we work out only in phases? If we wish to look fit, we need to make an honest attempt. If you bought fitness gifts during Thanksgiving sale, it is time you used them. You may also check out local health clubs or the 24-hour fitness gyms. These places offer membership discounts from time to time. Hence, you can drop by the health club early in the morning or after your work hours.
It is easy to stay fit this Christmas! Just motivate yourself to workout seriously for at least 45 minutes every day. This can include cardio exercises in the gym, swimming, biking, hiking, walking or running. If you have joint pain, try water aerobics. Dance lovers can enroll in salsa or belly dance classes. Whatever activity you choose, make it a point to do it every day, for a minimum of 45 minutes. This will keep you in perfect shape this Christmas
Avoid Overeating
This sounds clichéd but is true. We tend to overeat. During holidays, our mind seems to think of nothing but food. Cookies, cakes, sweets and curry seem to be so tempting. Well, if you are exercising every day, you may succeed in maintaining a balanced weight. However, it will do you good if you can prevent over stuffing your tummy. Try to eat slowly and serve yourself smaller portions. This way, you can taste all items and yet not feel full or overstuffed.
Christmas Dessert
Should I skip dessert to avoid weight gain? Bad idea because you will end up craving for sweet all night long and eat a big bowl of ice cream at midnight! Instead, serve a small helping of your Christmas dessert and give in to your sweet tooth temptation. Promise to work out an extra 30 minutes on the next day.
Drink plenty of water an hour before your meal or Christmas party. Avoid hanging around the buffet table. Instead, enjoy conversations with friends and family. Try not to think of food and indulgence. In addition, it can be best if you can limit or avoid alcohol. It is nothing but toxic and takes lot of time to come out of your system. Finally, stop fretting about weight gain issues. It is perfectly fine if you gain a pound or two during the holidays. However, never skip your workout schedule. After all, being fit is good for your own health.
