Running Improves Academic Skills

You may wonder how can running improve the skills of the brain and improve studies. But it is a fact proved by scientific researches. Running between class hours has proved to boost the growth of brain cells.

         

Scientific studies assure you, "Start running and watch your brain grow." When I was serving in schools I could realize the benefits of running through my own experience. I have seen students kept active by giving them some running exercises between class hours could improve their comprehension and academic studies. Researches also show that running and other aerobic exercises, may be given for just a few minutes, stimulate the growth of new brain cells, leading to enhanced memory recall.

How can running improve brain powers?

1) Research in physical exercises helping to improve brain by a team of neuroscientists at Cambridge University, UK, have shown that running stimulates the brain to grow fresh brain cells and it has a big impact on boosting mental ability. They found out that regular running for a few days could grow millions of new brain cells which improved memory skill to a great level.

2) Running improves blood circulation and helps comprehensive learning, making cognitive tasks easier. It serves as antidepressant drugs by encouraging the growth of new brain cells and reducing depression in students. Increased blood flow can increase hormone flow to reduce stress.

3) Running reduced attention towards indiscipline and mischiefs and proved to be successful in improving academic results. Assessments in mathematical skills showed considerable improvement through running practice.

4) Timothy Bussey, a behavioural neuroscientist at Cambridge University, says, "We know exercise can be good for healthy brain function, but this work provides us with a mechanism for the effect." His research revealed how jogging and other aerobic exercises can improve memory and learning and also proved to slow down the deterioration of mental ability that happens with old age.

5) Moreover, running proved to be effective in students to burn calories and Iose weight which further helped them to do better in studies, improving their creativity, their enthusiasm in studies and academic performance. Many schools follow this to reduce the problem of obesity which is endangering the modern growing generations.

Running clubs in schools

I have seen there are running clubs in some schools which help improve academic and physical education. Students volunteer to join them and they are allowed to spend five to eight minutes between class hours to go out and run in the open. This does not affect the teaching hour or class time. Rather, it helps better results in shorter time to improve brain as well as to reduce disciple problems. This yields best results when practised during recess which provides students something to do.

Running for a few minutes in between class hours can help modern students greatly, since they more affected by the sedentary living conditions. It can definitely carve out a more fruitful generation and a healthier society.
