Can prayer change persons or things? Is prayer an attribution of a particular religion or of some group? But one thing is certain: it may not change things, but it can change you.
Most of the people think that prayer is something religious, or a ritual. Many believe that prayer is some method God has prescribed for asking Him favors or things. Only a few believe that prayer is simply a communication with God.
What do most of us pray for?
Most of us pray when problems come. When we face problems that confuse us and keep us inactive we pray to change things. We want to overcome them. We want to win the situation. We want the things to be changed in our favor. It is also a war in which we opt for victory.
War and changes
Changing things is something like war. That is why The Book of Job says, "If I be wicked, woe unto me; and if I be righteous, yet will I not lift up my head. I am full of confusion; therefore see thou mine affliction; For it increases. Thou hunt me as a fierce lion: and again thou show thyself marvellous upon me. Thou renew thy witnesses against me, and increase thine indignation upon me; changes and war are against me." (Old Version of The book of Job10: 15-17)
We actually fight against things that are odd. If we compare war and the problems that are against us which we want to change, we can find there is a contest. We can find wherever there is a contest there is a victory or failure.
War rages and someone has to win. The cost of war is expensive and sometimes may be terrific. But when victory comes the sufferings and sacrifices matter nothing. It comes with a crown of joy. So also with problems that need changes in our life.
When there is a need to change "we want to change the world"
When we pray for solving problems, we pray for the changes in others. We never think of or want to change ourselves. We actually pray to change the world. We become confused, when we are unable to change the world according to our own wish. In fact, we want to create a new world of our own. We want to be the creator than being God's creation.
We are so blind by our selfish ego that we do not realize we cannot change the world or the people unless we change ourselves.
Here comes a call for change
This season of Thanksgiving and Festival holidays call us for a change. It is a reminder that definitely change the world if we are with God. We can change everything with His Grace. But that needs a change first from ourselves. The change should come from the individual. It reminds the saying, "The best workshop for better living is in your own heart." That is why this season comes with the call, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." (Matthew 3:2) It is a call to pray for the Grace of God to bring down the change first in the self, in every individual.
Prayer can change you and bring you success
Prayer can add Grace in you for your victory. It can solve all your problems. Prayer is certainly changing things and bring happiness. Pray God to change you. Your sincere prayer can definitely change you. Prayer can bring peace between you and God and also with others. Prayer can by all means bring victory.
