In this article, I have explained about illiteracy in India. I have also mentioned the factors that cause illiteracy in India. I have explained about those factors in this article.

Illiteracy in India:

Generally, illiteracy is meant for people who have not knowledge on letters of native language. But unfortunately, in our country that literacy rate is accrued only few percentage. But, it is not reached to cent percentage which is observed for many years. Some states in India are literately backward. In those states, first rank goes to Bihar. On the other hand, literately, Kerala is in first position. In Kerala, Ernaakulam reached to 100% literacy.

According to me, the following factors are causes of illiteracy.
1. Believing in superstitions.
2. Educating the people may know all things to them.
3. Losing confidence on government.

1. Believing in superstitions:

Albeit, we go to villages where people sink in evil thoughts such as those who learn letters they become enemies to the people of that region. That belief is inculcated in the people in some regions. Using this superstition, some politicians deceives the people make them to far away from the facilities of government.

2. Educating the people may know all things:

When people are educating then they will know all the facilities provided by the government. Then they fight for their facilities to be fulfilled for them. As government is formed by political parties so they do not want people to know all things provided by the government. In some states, this situation is occuring.

3. Losing confidence on government:

Some people think that they can live happily instead of educating themselves by working as labour. Days go on, number of jobs notified by the government decreases, so people are losing confidence on education. They think about whether education is useful for them.

Illiteracy has been a curse on Indian development. The reasons pointed out here are very correct, Caste is another factor behind this. Politicians are quite aware that if people are educated and made to think politicians cannot exploit people and tap their vote banks. Thank you dear Sita Kalyani for this awakening article.
