Succeed In the New Year: Success Is a Mutual Effort

December 28, 2011  by: Paulose  Points: 20   Category: Inspirational Stories    Views: 453

Every one wants to succeed in life. But real success comes only by wisdom. Intelligent is different from wisdom. Wisdom makes one achieve greater things. Gaining it is a mutual effort.

"Wisdom has the advantage of giving success," says Ecclesiastes. (Ecclesiastes 10: 10) Wisdom is the foundation stone of success. There can be no one as powerful as a wise man. "Who is like the wise man? Who else can solve a problem? A man's wisdom lights up his expression-his stern look is changed." (Ecclesiastes 8:1) "Wisdom is as precious as an inheritance; it is a blessing for those on whom the sun shines." (Ecclesiastes 6: 11)
There can be no other hotter subject today than success. Magazine articles, books, seminars, and sermons of modern world promote success as the hottest topic of the day. But success is seldom linked to wisdom which brings the real success.

Why do we not find 'wisdom' outside Bible?

Pick up any popular newspaper; you can find a lot of references about success. And yet we can find nothing added in them regarding wisdom. In today's hype about success, wisdom is conspicuous by its absence. Outside of Biblical literature and Biblically based books, we can hardly come across even the word 'wisdom'!

Ultimate gauging of success

Wisdom may not give us great popularity and wealth and it may not mean that we will be the most respected in our field or that we will have the most significant place in our company, but ultimately, as God gauges it, we will be successful. It is He who crowns us with the 'crown of success'

God promises wisdom

How do we get wisdom? "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him."(James 1:5) According to James, we must pray for it. God has promised to give us wisdom in abundance.

Prayer can gain us wisdom

Wisdom does not come easily. Of course, by praying we can acquire wisdom. It may start with prayer, but there is much more. Remember, praying is just one part of the process in gaining wisdom. To get wisdom, we must roll up our sleeves. It is just like trying to find out the hidden treasure. It takes rugged labor.

Mutual effort with God

Getting wisdom is the result of mutual effort. It is a matter of working together with God in pulling off a wise lifestyle. God does not deliver wisdom at our door like the morning newspaper. Wisdom does not come in a neat package, like a carton of cool milk that is waiting to be opened. It is the result of a cooperative effort. God will do His part only if we do ours. It is a mutual process.
