A Glorious Beginning of a Blessed End

December 28, 2011  by: Paulose  Points: 20   Category: Inspirational Stories    Views: 395

Christmas with the commemoration of the birth of Jesus is just over. The whole world is anxiously waiting to begin a New Year with great plans. This is just a flash back on the plot of some Jewish "high class people" to put an end to a glorious beginning. The result is history.

Was it a Beginning? Or was it an End?

Many thought it was a glorious beginning. Many hoped it was an end or a climax of a painful journey. The end of a journey of expectation should have come to an end and it should be the beginning of a new era of liberation and prosperity. Was it an end? Or was it just a beginning?

The Plot to put an End to the Beginning

But some wished for an end. A sudden treacherous end. An end to the new beginning. An end to all the attempts of hopeful hearts. A dream of an end to pluck the bud before it could blossom. "What are we to do? This man is performing many signs. If we let him go on like this, everyone will believe in him, and the Romans will come and destroy both our holy place and our nation. .." (John 11: 47-48) "So from that day on they planned to put him to death." (John 11: 53) The elders and the high priests were searching for a way to put and to the rising glory that had begun the procession of 'Hosannas'.

The Glorious Beginning

It was a glorious beginning. A 'beginning' initiated by Jesus himself. A beginning initiated by Jesus himself because he was well aware of the 'end' of this journey. ".he went on ahead going up to Jerusalem."(Luke 19: 28) "Go into the village ahead of you, and as you enter it you will find tied there a colt that has never been ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' just say this, 'The Lord needs it.'. As he rode along, people kept spreading their cloaks on the road. ..the whole multitude of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the deeds pf power that they had seen, saying,

"Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" (Luke 19 : 30-38) "The crowds that went ahead of him and followed were shouting, "Hosanna to the Son of David! Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest heaven!" ( Matthew 21 :8-9)

Jesus Aware of the 'End' of these 'Hosannas'

Jesus was quite aware of these 'end of these 'Hosannas' He knew that 'his time has come.' He followed the crowd silently. He knew that this 'royal procession' will lead him to the Calvary. He was sure that these 'Hosannas' will soon end in 'Crucify him'. It was the fulfillment of his Father's Divine Will. It was a lesson to us how we should behave in excitements of exaltations. It was an affectionate call to us, "Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11: 28) It was a reminder that we should always be aware of the 'end' of our life-journey.

It was Not an End but a Beginning

The glorious procession of Jerusalem was a beginning to end the journey in Calvary. With the crucifixion and death of Jesus many thought that his victorious march had come to an end. They believed that they could bury him once for all. But what happened?

It was only a beginning. Jesus resurrected conquering death once and for all. Yes, the death of Jesus is not an end; but only a beginning.

A beginning of assurance for the whole humanity 'from the beginning to the end'.
