The new researches reveal the fact that there is a strong connection between alcohol intake and obesity. As per the latest study, women, who have a family history of alcohol addiction, have a higher risk of becoming obese. And according to the researchers, the connection between alcohol consumption and obesity seems to be deepening at the present time than in the past. Earlier there was no link between obesity and family history of alcoholic people.
The majority of people are ignorant of the fact that alcohol contains a lot of calories. When a person consumes the alcohol he actually consumes the extra calories present in the alcohol due to which he gains weight and eventually becomes overweight or obese.

Alcohol is actually a fat-sparing beverage, which means when you consume alcohol, it will not let the body to burn the fat for fuel rather it will be burned for fuel. Hence when an excess of alcohol is consumed for the energy needs of the body on a daily basis, the body finds it difficult to burn the fat and hence extra fat is stored which leads to obesity. Researchers have also found that people who are more depressed tend to drink more alcohol which causes obesity problems in them.

According to the BBC news people who consume heavy amounts of alcohol during late night parties tend to start the next day with an over-consumption of high-calorie or unhealthy breakfast. This kind of changed eating habit which originates from alcohol consumption can also be the cause of obesity. There are also some people who even leave out their routine food so that they can consume more alcohol. Thus alcohol addiction increases the tendency in people to gorge on junk food or unhealthy food in opposition to healthy foods which in turn can trigger obesity.
