The Mausoleum of Mao Tse Tung in China

January 22, 2012  by: Madan G Singh  Points: 12   Category: Others    Views: 558

Mao Tse Tung caused the deaths of 30 million Chinese, yet he has a Mausoleum dedicated to him. This is a wonder of the world.

As a young boy I was fascinated with Mao Tse Tung and his life. But as I grew up I realized that in real terms Mao was a tyrant. Further study revealed that he had a mind akin to Hitler and caused the deaths of 30 million Chinese. The surprising part is that this butcher of China has a mausoleum dedicated to him in the heart of Beijing. The Mausoleum is located in Tiananmen Square and one cannot miss it. There is a hardly a leader in world history who has a mausoleum dedicated to him after causing the death of 30 million of his own citizens who were defenseless against him.
The Queue
The monstrous lie of Mao Tse Tung is propagated by the Communist party of China and one has just to visit the tomb to realize that endless number of Chinese visit his Mausoleum every day. The visiting hours are from 8 to 12 and just after an hour the queue become longer and longer.
Looking at the orderly queue moving slowly forward shows the regimented society of China. The security at the Mausoleum is extremely tough and one can't enter even with a small bag which must be deposited in a locker, for which a receipt is issued. Taking other items like cameras, food items, video recorders and cold drinks is not allowed. You have to enter the tomb free of any encumbrances. The Queue is mostly silent and the people talk to each other in low tones.
The entire atmosphere is oppressing with guards standing at every 10 meters. It is a sharp contrast with the Mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi where the access is free and a calm and serene atmosphere pervades all over. This is not all there is also a strict dress code. You are to be soberly dressed and thongs and casual sandals are not allowed. No hats are also allowed inside the Mausoleum. But the mausoleum has other restriction as well. If you are a Chinese you must have your identity card and in case you are a visitor you must carry your passport. The entire entry into the tomb of China's greatest war lord is severely restricted. Shades of insecurity of the communist party?
The last check just before you enter the mausoleum is like a normal security check as you walk through scanners with the staff observing you though video coverage. The staff may also ask you come outside and scanned personally even if they have a whiff of doubt.
Before entering the Mausoleum you can buy some flowers from a small stall. Better keep your mobile switched off as well as any noise of any kind will deny u entry into the mausoleum.
The Mausoleum itself
The Mausoleum of the greatest butcher in world history has 2 rooms. The first room has a statue of Mao tse Tung. There is a small granite dais where you can leave your flowers, which are quickly cleaned off. The second room has the body of Mao Tse Tung in a coffin. This body has been kept here for 27 years and one wonders how long before it is removed like that of Stalin. It certainly will be once the monstrous crimes of Mao become public. Once you leave the Mausoleum it is like coming out from an oppressive world.
