Imran Khan Feels Sachin Should have Retired after World Cup

opinion the greatest allrounder from the sub-continent, hence his views must be given some credance. After losing 8 consecutive tests abroad, it is imperative that we carry out a post mortom. The fact that the record breaking defeats took place with so called greatest batsman Sachin Tendulkar in the team is a matter of great shame. I don't think one can use any other word for this dismal performance.

Imran Khan has rightly questioned the decision of Sachin Tendulkar to continue playing in the team.In fact he feels that he should have retired on a high, when India had won the world cup. At that time Sachin had played well, India were winners and it was time to say good bye. Unfortunately Sachin for reasons best known to him continued playing. After all father time cannot be wished away and Sachin is now closer to 40 and not having the reflexes of old.

The fact that Sachin is not going to become younger, the time has come for him to hang up his boots. Playing for personal records is not the best advertisement for him. Records are important if India wins, but with defeats galore, records also lose their meaning. These 8 consecutive defeats will rankle all Indians. To top it , these defeats were against teams like England and Australia which are not world beaters like the invincibles of Bradman or the West Indies under Clive lloyd. Yet India witha 'world class' batting line wre routed.

Imran Khan is thus right in his observation that Sachin must go. Even the veteran Indian batsman Chandu Borde has commented that Sachin should retire along with the other 3 stalwarts. But in Indian cricket such things do not happen as the players including Sachin put self before the country. Imran Khan is right, but will Sachin Listen ?
