We all know that pomegranate is healthy for our body. It has lot of health benefits.


The main health benefits of pomegranate are as follow-

1. Pomegranate contains good amount of iron, therefore it is very beneficial for anemic patients. It is especially recommended to anemic patients who have iron deficiency in their body. The regular consumption of one glass of pomegranate juice helps in replenishing the iron deficiency.

2. Pomegranate juice is especially recommended in feverish conditions. It helps in getting rid of fever easily.

3. It increases the body immunity against diseases and hence protects us from infections and diseases.

4. Pomegranate supplies sufficient quantity of vitamin C which helps in increasing body immunity.

5. Pomegranate seeds help in getting rid of indigestion and stomach pain.

6. Pomegranate also supplies good quantity of potassium and magnesium.

7. It also contains antioxidants which help in getting rid of free radical's harmful effects.

8. Pomegranate also cures cough and coryza.

9. Pomegranate helps in preventing cancer. It has some nutritive elements which have cancer preventing properties.

10. Pomegranate also helps in getting rid of constipation.

The pomegranate offers numerous health benefits. It is the good source of vitamin A, C and E. This fruit is low in calories and rich in dietary fibre. It has the ability to prevent constipation and guards against colon cancer. Further, it is rich in antioxidants which slow down the ageing process.

Consumption of pomegranate juice has been found to benefit patients of osteoarthritis, heart disease and prostate cancer. The juice also has antiviral and antibacterial effects against dental plaque.

The fruit is consumed by cutting open the rind and lifting out of the clusters of seeds which can be eaten as they are or used to garnish fruit salads, ice-creams, sorbets or soups. Further, the seeds can be processed into juices, jellies, syrups and beverages. In India, the seeds are dried in the sun to make a spice called anardana, which lends a tangy taste to chutneys or curries. In Iran, pomegranate syrup is mixed with ground walnuts to make a thick sauce called fesenjan.
