Easter Egg Hunting For Jesus Christ

April 11, 2012  by: Paulose  Points: 15   Category: Others    Views: 651

Easter egg hunting is a fun during the time of Easter. There are Easter egg hunting events in communities and families. They add great fun for families with children. It is quite interesting to see children searching around the yard, in search of the hidden Easter eggs. On the First Easter Day Mary Magdalene set out early in the morning in search of Jesus Christ.

On the day of Easter, I woke up hearing an unusual noise outside the house. Out of curiosity, I peeped out of the window. The kids, who had gathered in our neighbor’s house were running here and there shouting, “I found one”. They were enjoying Easter egg hunting. It was a family fun.

It has been traditional custom to arrange Easter egg hunts for children during Easter. Even before the feast kids would paint eggs in attractive colors and designs. These Easter eggs would then be hidden in the yard. The children go in search of the hidden eggs.

Easter egg, a symbol of Resurrection

I was reminded of the special Easter egg hunting events, scheduled in the local church. The Christians consider egg as the seed of life. It symbolizes Jesus Christ, who is the seed of life. It reminds Jesus who had victory over death and resurrected.

The First Easter Egg Hunt

Easter egg hunting reminds me of an important search for Jesus on the day of Easter. It was a historical event that has been a turning point in the history. Mary Magdalene's search for Jesus brought hope to humanity. The resurrection of Jesus Christ brought meaning to human life. The resurrection of Jesus fills spring with the richest fruitfulness of life.

Mary Magdalene went in search of Jesus. “Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.” (John 20:1 Bible RSV)

Mary was the first one to see the Risen Lord. She was entrusted with the Resurrection Message. She was the first apostle to announce the resurrection of Jesus.
“Jesus said to her, ‘Do not hold me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to my brethren and say to them, I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’ Mary Magdalene went and said to the disciples, ‘I have seen the Lord’; and she told them that he had said these things to her.” (John 20:17-18)

Easter egg hunting in our life

Where do we search for Jesus in our life? Our “Easter egg hunting”has become a mere fun. What meaning does it have in our life? We do not look for the real treasure-- the Risen Lord Jesus. We have hidden the real treasure somewhere and have actually lost it.

Risen Jesus Christ is the real treasure of life. He is the real treasure whom we have to search for and find out. He is the finest “pearl” of greatest value(Matthew 13:44-46).
Let us search and find Risen Christ. He can offer the greatest wealth to humanity.
Happy Easter to all!

Basically, all cultures considered the egg as a symbol of the regenerative forces of nature. Later, Christians traditionally believed that eggs laid on Good Friday, if kept for a hundred years, would have their yolks turn to diamond. If Good Friday eggs were cooked on Easter, they were believed to promote the fertility of trees, crops and protect against sudden deaths. And, if by rare luck, one found two yolks in an Easter eff, it was considered a sure sign that the person was going to be rich soon!

The ultimate purpose of Easter egg decorations, games, hunting and chocolaty delights etc. are to include one and all in the joyous Easter celebrations and to spread happiness, unity and goodwill among everyone. After all, that is what Easter and Easter eggs are all about!
