Health Benefits of Pumpkin

Pumpkin is very healthy and nutritious vegetable which contains good amount of antioxidants like vitamin A, beta-carotene and vitamin C, which helps in preventing various degenerative diseases like cancer.


Pumpkin is healthy and nutritious vegetable used to make delicious recipes and dishes. Its seeds are also very beneficial for health. It is a round shaped vegetable which contains lot of nutritive elements which are very good for your health.

The health benefits of pumpkin are as follows-

1. Pumpkin contains good amount of carbohydrates needed to supply the energy requirement of body and also contains fiber needed to maintain digestive system of body in optimum working, healthy and disease free condition.

2. Pumpkin is a store house of essential beta carotene which is very good for eyes and also possesses good antioxidant properties. Pumpkin also contains good amount of iron, vitamin B9 that is folic acid necessary for healthy formation of hemoglobin in the body.

3. Pumpkin also contains good amount of vitamin B12, vitamin C and vitamin B6 necessary for good health. Pumpkin contains good amount of zinc, magnesium and manganese, the important minerals required for the healthy functioning of body.

4. Pumpkin seeds are very beneficial for body. They have antioxidant properties which help in preventing harmful effects of free radicals. Pumpkin contains no cholesterol and fat, therefore, is very beneficial for diabetic and hypertensive patients.

5. Pumpkin contains good amount of antioxidants like vitamin A, beta-carotene and vitamin C which help in preventing various degenerative diseases like cancer.

I like different dishes with pumpkin and it is one of my favorite vegetable. I usually make halwa with pumpkin. It is very tasty. We can give this halwa as an evening snacks for children. We can also use it as a dessert after heavy meal. Lie this way, we can satisfy our guests.

I make variety of dishes with pumpkin. My favorite among them is pumpkin with kidney beans. There is no Onam for me without pumpkin. We can make very tasty avial by putting pumpkin because it has mouth watering smell and taste. It is a very healthy vegetables. There are lots of pumpkin in the vegetable garden of my native place. My mother always plant pumpkin for us. Because she knows very well that we all like pumpkin curry very much.
