Ten Tips To Improve Your Digestion

Now a days, most people have poor digestion because of their lifestyle. We can solve this problem if we can make little changes in our lifestyle. This article explains some tips to improve your digestion.

         



The following are some tips for better digestion.



Regular Exercise
If you want better health and improved digestion, do exercise regularly. Spend at least 30 minutes for exercise. Constipation is a common digestive problem. Inactivity is the main reason for constipation. Exercise is very essential for the regular bowel movements. You can avoid gastric as well as constipation problem through regular exercise. As soon as a meal is complete, walk for 10 minutes to increase your digestion level.

Fibre Intake
Fibre is known as “nature’s broom”. It is an important source of roughage and it adds bulk to the food. The component called roughage in fibre aids the digestive system and helps our bodies’ elimination process. Including plenty of fibre-rich foods in your daily diet will help digestion by promoting bowel regularly.

Drink Plenty of Water
We should drink 8 to 10 glasses of water every day for better digestion. Drinking plenty of water is so essential for our digestive health. If we drink water during or after each meal, food will break down soon and our body can absorb nutrients. Drinking water will soften our stools and will prevent constipation.

Avoid Processed and Packaged Food
Eat freshly cooked food to preserve nutrients and avoid frozen or packaged food. Always choose whole, organic items rather than processed food. The processed and refined food contains large amount of chemicals and toxins. Processed food makes our digestion slow and so the waste materials stay in our body for long days.

Avoid Stress and Anxiety
Too much stress and anxiety will badly affect our digestive system. So try to lead a stress free life. Avoid tension and anxiety. Practice stress reducing activities and improve your digestion. Otherwise, it may affect you badly and may lead to serious diseases. Hearing music, practicing yoga, breathing exercise, gardening, swimming, painting, reading, writing etc. are some of the ways to lead a stress free life.

Eat Only When You Feel Hungry
Eat only if hungry. If you feel that your stomach is full at meal time, don’t eat. It is better for your health to skip the meal rather than eat with incompletely digested food is still in the stomach. Digestion is the root of our health.

Chew The Food Well
Proper chewing is the most important thing you can do to improve your digestion. You should chew your food until a paste forms in the mouth. Actually the digestion process begins in the mouth. When you chew your food, it mixes well with saliva and helps to digest your food soon because saliva contains enzymes that contribute to the chemical process of digestion. So take time and eat slowly. If you are a fast eater, now it is time to change this habit for good digestion.

Don’t Overeat
Over consumption of food is the number one reason for indigestion. So stop your food intake before your stomach gets full. Excess of any kind of food may lead to digestion problems and weight gain. Beware of your health.

Don’t Eat Late At Night
Have your dinner 2 or 3 hours before you go to bed. So your body gets time to digest the food that you eat. If you eat your food too close to your bed time, the undigested food sits in your stomach and will often disturb your sleep.

Eat Smaller Meals More Frequently
Avoid large meals because heavy meals always take time to digest and will make you feel sleepy. Eating smaller meals through out the day puts less of a burden on digestion and keeps you energetic throughout the day.

Always keep in mind that our first wealth is health. If we lose all other kinds of wealth, no need to worry but if we lose health everything is lost. Regulated food is the first requisite for good health. So our diet should be simple and wholesome.

These are very good tips by the authoress to improve digestion. Really, much depends upon the life style one follows. A healthy and well balanced diet is the key for a better health.

Honestly enough, I will be lying if I say I knew all these tips. Yes, there were many of which I am already aware of. But the one of fiber intake was something new to me. Packaged food is also difficult to handle and can break our digestion system most certainly. It should be avoided if you are already not feeling well.
