How to Take Care of Yourself in Summer

Summer has set well in India. The month of May is the peak of the hot days. The heat is unabated and only going stronger and stronger with each day. So here are some tips that will help you beat the heat.

Eyes
One of the most sensitive parts of the body are the eyes. Eyes tend to feel the heat of the sun, literally. Many times, the eyes become fiery red and water stands in the eyes. Rubbing the eyes is a natural process as our hands automatically move towards them. However, we should avoid the temptation of rubbing them. This generally happens when one has returned from a trip in the blazing sun.

When you sense such a burning sensation in the eyes, close your eyes and allow them to relax naturally. You will be tempted to rub them, but try to avoid it as much as possible. Make use of slices of cucumber and place them on your eyelids. The cold cucumber will give instant relief to your eyes.

Skin
The burning of the skin is another major problem many people go through during the summer days. The skin on the face is quite sensitive, compared to the skin on the other parts of the body. The forearms also tend to take the beating. If the skin is not too intense, you can be well off washing the exposed parts of the skin with cold water when you return home. If you are one of those people, who cannot bear the heat at all and you still feel the need to go out in the blazing sun, make sure that you use an effective sunscreen lotion to protect your exposed skin.

If you cannot afford to buy the sun cream, you can tie a scarf around your face, so that the skin does not come in direct contact with the harmful sun rays.

Sunstroke
Sunstroke is a common problem many people face. However, it is not that all people will have a bout of the sunstroke. In general, people who already have a lot of heat in their body are more likely to face sunstroke than other people. Roaming in the sun for longer duration is one of the prime reasons for getting sunstroke. It does not matter how much care you are taking of yourself before and during venturing out in the sun.

Dehydration
The most commonly faced problem during the summer days is that of dehydration. Drinking less water causes this. In the hot days, our body needs more water to keep the temperature at acceptable levels. You should drink at least 8 to 10 glasses of water on a daily basis.
Water therapy

It is obligatory that you drink loads of water every day. There is literally no limit to how much water you should drink. However, 8 to 10 full glasses are preferred. Drinking that amount of water on a daily basis and that too for a longer duration will show good results. It will keep your body duly hydrated as well as remove the waste from your body too. So go for it.

Eat wet dates
Dates are known to have a cool characteristic. They help in bringing down the heat level in your body. That should serve well for the people who have a natural amount of higher heat in their body. You can also leave a couple of dates in a cup of water in the night and drink the same water in the morning.

Cucumber
Cool as a cucumber – as they call it, is not for nothing. Cucumber is used large and wide in the summer days. Its natural feature of providing coolness is the most sought after during the hot days.
