A healthy body is governed by a healthy mind and a healthy mind is the outcome of a regular sound sleep . Though the definition of healthy sleep varies from person to person each one of us need to understand our requirement and take the right amount of sleep regularly. Generally, it is taken that eight hours of sleep is sufficient for a healthy human body. But the problem arises once you do not get the right amount of sleep and struggle hard in the bed but left sleepless throughout the night. Since there are many reasons for sleeplessness one needs to find out carefully what keeps him/her away from having good sound sleep. For some people falling into sleep is as easy as a wink and as soon as they move into bed they get into sleep very fast. But there are some people who find it difficult and have a tough luck when it comes about sleeping. They need to experiment with different techniques before they find out what could get them into a good sleep.

Tips for falling asleep fast

Well, there is no hard and fast way for getting into sleep fast. It is something which you can achieve by following a systematic approach and doing things in order. Following a regular routine and doing things at proper time is a great way through which you send a signal to your body and mind what it should at a particular time of the hour. Let us go through some important tips which would help you to get good night slumber.

Take a bath before going to bed: Taking a bath one hour before going to bed is a great way of getting good sound sleep. When you bath your body gets relaxed and a sense of calmness prevails over your mind, body and senses. It is also said that after a bath a type of hormone is secreted in the brain which helps in falling in sleep quickly.

Avoid drinking coffee or tea: You should not drink tea or coffee at least one hour before going to bed. Drinking a cup of tea or coffee actuates your senses and nerves and thus keep you agile for hours. Hence, avoid intake of beverages before going to bed.

Sleep in a comfortable bed: Your bed should neither be too soft nor too hard. Make sure that it is something in between hard and soft and gives you an overall better sleep. If it has been a long time since you have changed the mattresses do the needful by buy a new one.

Keep the bed sheets, pillows clean: You need to make sure that your bed is made-up regularly. The bedsheets, pillows and side pillows are properly laundered. A clean and neat surrounding always helps in getting proper sleep.

Sleep in a comfortable position: You need to choose a comfortable sleeping position for yourself be it on your back, side or any other sleeping position that is comfortable for you. The position that helps you to get into sleep fast try to sleep in that position only.

A dark room helps you to get better sleep: A dark room always helps in getting into sleep fast. When you sleep in a dark room your senses of sight, and mind soothes and helps in getting sleep fast. If you do not like sleeping in a dark room try to sleep in a dim light which would put less pressure on the pupils of your eyes and thus helps in your sleep.

Keep yourself away from stress, worries and anxities: When you go to sleep you mind may wander thinking about the various pros and cons about life. You need to remind yourself that it's time for you to sleep and take rest so that you get up the next morning afresh. Rather think about the things which bring you peace in mind like a beautiful scenery, nature etc.

Reading: Reading is an approved sleep getter. When you go to bed take a book of your interest and read it. In this way your mind will not wander and keep focused on a particular topic. This will inturn help in getting good sleep.

Listen to some soft music: If you are a music lover then you may tune in to some soft music in a low volume which would help you to fall fast asleep. But this does not work with everyone and not with me also because I love to be at my own pace and totally into a different world of colorful thoughts when I am in bed.

Wear loose cloths: Wearing loose clothing always helps as it keeps you comfortable and it is one of the important criterion of good sleep. It also helps in maintaining the flow of blood and oxygen in your body. Sleeping is all about being comfortable and try out things that make you comfortable as it would help you to get into sleep faster.

Take deep breathes: If you find yourself struggling for sleep you may try this. Take deep breathes and then release them accordingly. Repeat this process for sometime as it will help you to get good sleep.

Do not take naps in the day: Keep yourself away from short naps during the daytime as this kills your sleep during the night. If you could not help it, make sure not to take more than a short nap of 30 minutes or so during the day. These short naps keep recharging you with sleep and when you try to take good sleep at night they simply makes your perspective very pathetic.

Do exercise: Doing regular exercise in the morning helps a lot by giving your body proper flow of oxygen. You can do some free hand exercises or yoga to boost up your health level. Exercise is the most reliable way that helps you to surrender into a fast sleep at night.


A healthy life style is what one requires when it comes about keeping oneself physically fit and getting a good slumber at night. Together with it you need to take special care of your diets. A diet reach in high protein should be avoided at dinner. One should also avoid eating heavily before going to bed. Moreover, spicy and oily foods lead to indigestion which indirectly affects your sleep. If sleeplessness continues for a long period of time it could result into insomnia. These are simple things which you need to keep in mind and after following these for sometime you will certainly revert to your normal circle of healthy sleep. Hence, take the initiative today and do what is required before these sleepless night takes out the charm from your life.

If anyone is suffering lack of falling asleep fast, there is a good and effective way which makes anyone felt asleep fast. The process is to count the numbers from 100 or more to 1 slowly. If you go through this way, definitely you will fall asleep fast.
