Nokia Lumia 900 is the latest Nokia Windows Phone. It is packed with new technologies.
Body and Display: The dimensions of the phone are 127.8 x 68.5 x 11.5 mm. It weighs about 160 gram. It does not have touch sensitive controls. The type of the touch screen is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. In capacitive touchscreens, we can't use usual stylus. Capacitive touchscreens will work only if we touch using a conductor. Our body is a conductor. So we should use our fingers to work with capacitive touchscreen phones. The screen size is 4.3 inches with approximately 217 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 480 x 800 pixels. The touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass – Nokia Clear black display. Gorilla Glass, manufactured by Corning, is an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass engineered specifically to be thin, light and damage-resistant. Its primary application is as a cover glass for the exterior of portable electronic devices with screens, such as mobile phones, portable media players, and laptop computer displays. Gorilla Glass's most useful qualities are its strength, allowing very thin glass to be made without excessive fragility, and scratch resistance. It has multitouch feature also.
Memory: The phone does not offer microSD card slot. The internal memory of the phone is good. It comes with 16GB internal memory. The user does not need extra memory card as the internal memory itself is very high. The user can store his favourite music, videos, movies etc with its 16GB internal storage itself. It also comes with 512MB Random Access Memory.
Features: The phone comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Operating System. It also comes with 1.4 GHz Scorpion Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some more powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. This phone uses only single core processor. The GPU is Adreno 205. The chipset is Qualcomm APQ8055 Snapdragon. It has sensors like Accelerometer, Gyro, proximity, and compass. It has Stereo FM radio with RDS. It is available in four colours – Black, Cyan, Magenta and White. It supports MicroSIM card. It has key features like SNS Integration, Active noise cancellation with dedicated mic, Organizer, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA player, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, Video/Photo ediotor, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa Integration, Voice memo/dial/commands, Predictive text inputs (Swype), Document editor and Document Viewer.
Connectivity: Nokia Lumia 900 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS class 33 versions in order to connect to cellular networks. It is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly.
Camera: The set has a very powerful camera. It comes with 8 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. The picture quality is superb. The features such as dual-LED flash, Carl Zeiss Optics are also available. Other features of the camera include Auto focus, Touch to focus, Video stabilizer, Exposure control, Geo tagging. It also has a secondary camera with 1MP on the front to make video calls.
Battery: The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1830 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 300 hours in 2G networks and up to 300 hours in 3G networks. The talk time is up to 7 hours in 2G networks and up to 7 hours in 3G networks. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smart phone.
Market Status: This model was announced on February, 2012. It was released on May, 2012. Currently it is not available in the Indian markets. Soon it will be launched in India.
