Samsung Omnia W I8350 is the first Samsung Phone powered by Windows Mango 7.5 Operating System. It has all the features of a Windows phone at an affordable price. Here is a short review about Samsung Omnia W I8350.

         

Samsung Omnia W I8350 is the first Samsung Phone powered by Windows Mango 7.5 Operating System. It has all the features of a Windows phone at an affordable price.



Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 115.6 x 58.8 x 10.9 mm. It weighs about 115.3 grams. It has touch sensitive controls. The type of the touch screen is Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. In capacitive touchscreens, we can't use usual stylus. Capacitive touchscreens will work only if we touch using a conductor. Our body is a conductor. So we should use our fingers to work with capacitive touchscreen phones. The screen size is 3.7 inches with approximately 252 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 480 x 800 pixels.

The touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. Gorilla Glass, manufactured by Corning, is an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass engineered specifically to be thin, light and damage-resistant. Its primary application is as a cover glass for the exterior of portable electronic devices with screens, such as mobile phones, portable media players, and laptop computer displays. Gorilla Glass's most useful qualities are its strength, allowing very thin glass to be made without excessive fragility, and scratch resistance.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface.

Memory:

The phone does not offer microSD card slot. The internal memory of the phone is good. It comes with 8GB internal memory. The user does not need extra memory card as the internal memory itself is high. The user can store his favourite music, videos, movies etc with its 8GB internal storage itself. However some users fell that 8GB internal memory without card slot is low. They can opt for other Samsung models. It also comes with 512MB Random Access Memory.

Features:

The phone comes with Microsoft Windows Phone 7.5 Mango Operating System. It also comes with 1.4 GHz Scorpion Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some more powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. This phone uses only single core processor. The GPU is Adreno 205. The chipset is Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon. It has sensors like Accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass. It has Stereo FM radio with RDS.

GPS is also available with with A-GPS support and Bing map. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.

The model is available in only one colour – Black. It supports MicroSIM card. It has key features like MP4/WMV/H.264/H.263 player, MP3/WAV/WMA/eAAC+ player, SNS Integration, Organizer, Voice demo, Predictive text input etc.

Connectivity:

Samsung Omnia W I8350 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. It is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly.

Camera:

The set has a powerful camera. It comes with 5 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 2592 * 1944 pixels. The picture quality is superb. LED Flash feature is also available. Other features of the camera include Auto focus, Touch to focus, Geo tagging, image stabilization etc. The phone has 0.3MP (VGA) secondary camera on the front to make video calls. The phone can record videos with the resolution of 720p and at the speed of 30fps. 720p denotes the display resolutions of 1,280×720 pixels.

Battery:

The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 370 hours and the talk time provided by the phone is up to 7 hours. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smartphone like this.

Market Status:

This model was announced on September, 2011. It was released on October, 2011.
