HTC Desire C Review

The HTC Desire C is an entry level Android ICS smartphone with a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 4GB of onboard storage, 5-megapixel camera, 600MHz CPU, 512MB of RAM and NFC. Here is a short review about HTC Desire C.

         

The HTC Desire C is an entry level Android ICS smartphone with a 3.5-inch HVGA display, 4GB of onboard storage, 5-megapixel camera, 600MHz CPU, 512MB of RAM and NFC.



Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 107.2 x 60.6 x 12.3 mm. It weighs about 100 grams. It has touch sensitive controls. The type of the touch screen is capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. In capacitive touchscreens, we can't use usual stylus. Capacitive touchscreens will work only if we touch using a conductor. Our body is a conductor. So we should use our fingers to work with capacitive touchscreen phones. The screen size is 3.5 inches with approximately 165 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 320 x 480 pixels.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface.

Memory:

The phone comes with microSD card slot. The slot supports up to 32 GB microSD memory card. The internal memory of the phone is also good. It comes with 4GB internal memory. It also comes with 512MB Random Access Memory. The user can enter unlimited contacts in phonebook. There is no practical limit. The phone also has unlimited call storage capacity.

Features:

The phone comes with Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. Ice Cream Sandwich is the latest version of Android Operating System. It also comes with 600 MHz Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some more powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. This phone uses only single core processor. The chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon. It has sensors like Accelerometer, proximity etc. It does not have Stereo FM radio with RDS. Instead it supports TBD Radio.

GPS is also available with with A-GPS support. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites.

The model is available in only three colours – Polar White, Stealth Black, Flamenco Red. It supports MicroSIM card. It has key features like MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player, MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV player, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, SNS Integration, Organizer, Document Viewer, Voice memo/dial, Predictive text input etc.

Connectivity:

HTC Desire C utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. It is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. NFC is optional. Near field communication (NFC) is a set of standards for smartphones and similar devices to establish radio communication with each other by touching them together or bringing them into close proximity, usually no more than a few centimetres. Present and anticipated applications include contactless transactions, data exchange, and simplified setup of more complex communications such as Wi-Fi. Communication is also possible between an NFC device and an unpowered NFC chip, called a "tag".

Camera:

The set has a powerful camera. It comes with 5 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 2592 * 1944 pixels. The picture quality is superb. LED Flash feature is also available. Other features of the camera include Auto-Focus, Image Stabilization, Geo Tagging, Face Detection, Smile Detection, Blink Detection etc. The phone does not have secondary camera on the front to make video calls. The phone can record videos.

Battery:

The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1230 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 240 hours and the talk time provided by the phone is up to 5 hours. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smartphone like this.

Market Status:

This model was announced on May, 2012. It was released on June, 2012.
