Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 is a tablet with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) is a worthy successor to the first brand name Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Screenwise we have a 7" 1024x600 pixels LCD display with Samsung''''s Plane-to-Line-Switching (PLS) technology, which allows for better power efficiency, yet from a brighter panel. Here is a short review about Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100.

         

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 is a tablet with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. GALAXY Tab 2 (7.0) is a worthy successor to the first brand name Android tablet, the Galaxy Tab. Screenwise we have a 7" 1024x600 pixels LCD display with Samsung's Plane-to-Line-Switching (PLS) technology, which allows for better power efficiency, yet from a brighter panel.



Body and Display:

The dimensions of the tablet are 193.7 x 122.4 x 10.5 mm. It weighs about 344 grams. The type of the touch screen is PLS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. In capacitive touchscreens, we can't use usual stylus. Capacitive touchscreens will work only if we touch using a conductor. Our body is a conductor. So we should use our fingers to work with capacitive touchscreen tablets. The screen size is 7.0 inches with approximately 170 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the tablet is 600 x 1024 pixels. The touchscreen is protected by Scratch-resistant glass, oleophobic coating.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface. This is a tablet with no support for GSM voice communication.

Memory:

The tablet offers microSD card slot. The card slot supports up to 64GB memory card. The internal memory of the tablet is very good. It comes with 8GB/16GB/32GB internal memory. The user does not need extra memory card as the internal memory itself is very high. The user can store his favourite music, videos, movies etc with its 8GB/16GB/32GB internal storage itself. It also comes with 1GB Random Access Memory. The features of the phonebook include Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.

Features:

The tablet comes with Android OS, v4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich) Operating System. It also comes with 1 GHz Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone or tablet and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some powerful smartphones or tablets use dual core and quad core processors. This tablet uses dual core processor. The GPU is PowerVR SGX540. The chipset is TI OMAP 4430. It has sensors like Accelerometer, gyro, proximity and compass. It doesn’t have FM Radio.

GPS is also available with A-GPS support and GLONASS. The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Java is available via Java MIDP emulator.

The model is available in two colours – Black and White. It supports only MicroSIM card. It has key features like TV Out, SNS integration, MP4/DivX/Xvid/H.264/H.263/WMV player, MP3/WAV/eAAC+/WMA/AC3/Flac player, Organizer, Image/video editor, Quickoffice HD editor/viewer, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration, Voice memo, Predictive text input (Swype) etc.

Connectivity:

Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. It is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. The tablet also has infrared port.

Camera:

The tablet has a powerful camera. It comes with 3.15 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 2048x1536 pixels. The picture quality is good. The features of the camera include Smile detection, Exposure control, Geo tagging, Panorama, Scenes, Effects etc. The tablet has secondary camera. It is a VGA camera (0.3MP). VGA cameras are not suitable for video calling. The tablet records videos with the resolution of 1080p and at the speed of 30fps. 1080p is a set of HDTV high-definition video modes that are characterized by 1080 horizontal lines of vertical resolution and progressive scan, meaning the image is not interlaced as is the case with the 1080i display standard. The term assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, thus implying a resolution of 1920 × 1080.

Battery:

The tablet is powered by standard Li-Po 4000 mAh battery.

Market Status:

This model was announced on February, 2012. It was released on April, 2012. It is available in Indian markets.
