Nokia C6-01 disposes of the QWERTY keyboard found on Nokia C6, bumps the camera resolution up from 5MP to 8MP with dual flash, and the screen technology to capacitive AMOLED, plus it looks way cooler than the Nokia C6. On top of that, the handset comes with the newer Symbian^3, rather than the Symbian S60 v5 on the original C6. Nokia is also sporting something named ClearBlack display for improved outdoor visibility in the C6-01.
Body and Display: The dimensions of the phone are 103.8 x 52.5 x 13.9 mm. It weighs about 131 grams. The phone has touch sensitive controls. The type of the touch screen is AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. In capacitive touchscreens, we can't use usual stylus. Capacitive touchscreens will work only if we touch using a conductor. Our body is a conductor. So we should use our fingers to work with capacitive touchscreen phones. The screen size is 3.2 inches with approximately 229 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 360 x 640 pixels.
The touchscreen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass - Nokia ClearBlack Display. Gorilla Glass, manufactured by Corning, is an alkali-aluminosilicate sheet glass engineered specifically to be thin, light and damage-resistant. Its primary application is as a cover glass for the exterior of portable electronic devices with screens, such as mobile phones, portable media players, and laptop computer displays. Gorilla Glass's most useful qualities are its strength, allowing very thin glass to be made without excessive fragility, and scratch resistance.
It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface.
Memory: The phone comes with microSD card slot. The external memory can be extended up to 32GB. 2GB memory card is included with the package. The internal memory of the phone is not so impressive. It comes with 340MB internal memory. It also comes with 256MB Random Access Memory and 1GB Read Only Memory. The features of the phonebook include Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.
Features: The phone comes with Symbian^3 Operating System. The Operating System can be upgraded to Symbian Belle. It also comes with 680 MHz ARM 11 Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some more powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. This phone uses a single core processor only. The GPU is Broadcom BCM2727. It has sensors like Accelerometer, proximity and compass.
GPS is also available with A-GPS support . Global Positioning System is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Java is available via Java MIDP 2.1 emulator. It has Stereo FM radio with RDS.
It is available in two colours – Silver Grey and Black. It supports MicroSIM card. It has key features like TV-out, SNS integration, WebTV, MP3/WMA/WAV/eAAC+ player, DivX/XviD/MP4/WMV/H.264/H.263 player, Document viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PDF), Voice command/dial, Predictive text input etc.
Connectivity: Nokia C6-01 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS Class 33 version technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. But it is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. NFC is not available.
Camera: The set has a very powerful camera. It comes with 8 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 3264x2448 pixels. The picture quality is superb. Dual LED flash feature is also available. Other features of the camera include auto focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection, video stabilization, fixed focus etc. It also has a secondary camera with 0.3 MP (VGA Camera) on the front to make video calls. The phone records videos with the resolution of 720p and at the speed of 25fps. The speed of video capture can be increased to 30fps via an update.
Battery: The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1050 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 408 hours in 2G networks and up to 372 hours in 3G networks. The talk time is up to 11 hours 30 minutes in 2G networks and up to 04 hours 30 minutes in 3G networks. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smart phone like this.
