Introduction

Now-a-days, we are so busy that we hardly have anytime to pay enough attention to our hearts. The heart is a very vital organ of our body and our well being totally depends on how well it functions. For a healthy heart we need to exercise regularly and we should healthy diets. We need to keep ourselves free from drugs so that our heart could function well for a long time. The foods which we eat regularly have a direct or indirect relation with the health of our heart. Let us now find out some of the important food diets that help the heart to function properly.

Apple

Do you remember the famous proverb that says an apple a day keeps doctor away? Let me tell you that it is not only a simple proverb as it has a deep latent meaning hidden inside it. Most of us would agree with the fact that apple has many benefits and rightly so. The presence of phytochemicals in the apples not only regulates blood sugar but also prevents Alzheimer’s disease. Besides, it also contains all the important fibers and vitamins required by the body for its regular functioning. One may never get bore of consuming apples because it is available in different colors in the market. Above all, it tastes very good to the taste buds of our tongues.

Almond

If you think nuts are not good for your health and figure then seriously you are on a big mistake. Nuts, especially, almonds are very good for your overall health and your heart. The very presence of vitamin E in almonds helps in maintaining the level of cholesterol in your body. Some other types of nuts like groundnuts are also good for your heart. Hence, if you feel hungry in the evenings try to munch a fistful of nuts rather than relying on anything else.

Tomatoes

Lycopene that is available from the tomatoes is a phytochemical that is useful to control the levels of cholesterol of your body. Therefore, if you consume appropriate quantities of tomatoes the problems related to your heart will be reduced to a great extent. It has also been found out through researches that consumption of cooked tomatoes is further better than consuming the raw ones. A word of caution for those who have the problem of uric acid should avoid consuming tomatoes to avoid problems.

Green vegetables and pulses

Either you consume anything or not but it is important for you to make sure that your diet charts should include enough quantities of green vegetables and pulses. Lettuce leaves could be consumed regularly as it does a lot of benefits to your heart. Green vegetables and leafy pulses not only keep your heart functioning properly but also help immensely by shading down unnecessary fats from your body.

Whole grams

Whole grams are the complete seeds of plants and are considered better than the refined grains as they contain the necessary fibers, minerals and vitamins. Wheat, barley, oats, maize, brown rice etc. comes under the category of whole grains. The best thing is that they are very low in fat content. It prevents you from heart related diseases, cancers, diabetes and many other health related problems. It is said that if you could start your day by having a breakfast of whole grain then your heart will remain healthy for a long time.

Oats

The scientific name of oat is Avira sativa and it is a hard cereal grain. You many not like to eat oats but the fact is that it is very healthy for your heart. It contains large quantities of fibers, omega 3 fatty acids, foliates and potassium. It also helps in controlling the level of cholesterol and thus helps in cleaning the blood vessels. It is available all around the year and you may have it regularly in your breakfast. Antioxidant compounds reduce the risk of heart attacks by controlling the levels of cholesterol.

Brown rice

Brown rice has a nutty flavor and a kind of whole natural grain which is more nutritious than white rice. It is not any other rice as many of us mistake for but it is the same rice. The white rice gets it good stuffs removed while processing while the brown rice retains all the good stuff. Brown rice have good number of nutrients and fiber and is considered as a balance diet which also helps in digestion. It is not only good for your heart but for your overall health. It has large quantity of fiber and helps in preventing cholesterol.

Red wine

It has also been found out that red wine also makes up the list of things which help in keeping your heart healthy. Researches proved that red wine is good for health in comparison to beer and whisky. The antioxidant of red wine protects the blood vessels lining of the heart. Besides, it also helps in preventing inflammation, reducing cell growth and fighting diseases like cancer. Moreover, red wine if consumed in moderation may help fighting heart diseases as it helps in the increase of good cholesterol. But this does not mean that one should be encouraged to drink alcohol because consumption alcohol in excess may indirectly affect our badly very badly.
