Nokia C5-05 is a Symbian smartphone offering a 3.2" resistive touch screen, 2MP camera, A-GPS and microSDHC card slot. Here is a short review about Nokia C5-05.

Nokia C5-05 is a Symbian smartphone offering a 3.2" resistive touch screen, 2MP camera, A-GPS and microSDHC card slot.

Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 105.8 x 51 x 13.8 mm. It weighs about 93 grams. The type of the touch screen is TFT resistive touchscreen with 16M colours. Resistive touchscreen technology works well with almost any stylus-like object, and can also be operated with gloved fingers and bare fingers alike. In some circumstances, this is more desirable than a capacitive touchscreen, which has to be operated with a capacitive pointer, such as a bare finger (latest capacitive technology enables gloves on touchscreens). The costs are relatively low when compared with active touchscreen technologies. Resistive touchscreen technology can be made to support multi-touch input.

The screen size is 3.2 inches with approximately 229 ppi pixel density. The screen resolution of the phone is 360 x 640 pixels. The phone has handwriting recognition feature also.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface.

The phone comes with microSD card slot. The external memory can be extended up to 16GB. The internal memory of the phone is not impressive. It comes with only 40MB internal memory. It also comes with 128MB Random Access Memory and 256MB Read Only memory. The features of the phonebook include Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.

The phone comes with Symbian OS v9.4, Series 60 rel. 5 Operating System. It also comes with 600 MHz Central Processing Unit. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some more powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. This phone uses a single core processor only. It has Accelerometer sensor.

GPS is also available with A-GPS support, Nokia Maps. Global Positioning System is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Java is available via Java MIDP 2.0 emulator. It has Stereo FM radio.

It is available in different colours – Black/Aluminium grey, Black Lilac, White Lilac, White/Graphite grey. It supports MicroSIM card. The key features of the phone include Photo editor, Organizer, QuickOffice document viewer, Voice command/dial, Predictive text input etc.

Nokia C5-05 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS Class 32 version technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. Wi-Fi is not available. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. NFC is not available.

The set has a low power camera. It comes with 2 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. The picture quality is not so impressive. Geo tagging feature is available. There is no secondary camera on the front to make video calls. The camera records videos at the rate of 15fps.

The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1000 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 600 hours. The talk time is up to 11 hours 30 minutes. The music playback time is up to 35 hours.

The only downside of this Nokia product, in my opinion is the camera. You have rightly mentioned that in your article. The picture quality is indeed low. One doubts if it is a Nokia product. Apart from that, I don''t see any negative aspect in the C5-05.

Yes you are right Abhijit. The phone has a low power camera only. I think the primary camera hould have atleast 3.15 Megapixels. It is the standard quantity. But 2 Megapixels camera can do well for a secondary camera used for video calling.
