Attending college can be an expensive ordeal. This is a huge bother for students who wish to study abroad. If you are in India and wish to study in US, you do worry about the expenses. Many people opt for student loans. Some parents use their provident fund or dip into other savings. Initially, you may need the money for the travel, semester fee, hostel expenses and so on. Amidst all this, it is possible t avoid the student loan debt? Here is some help.

Join a part time Job

Before you begin college, you have some slack time. If you are in India or abroad, you can use the free hours to join a part time job. Working as a freelance writer or an intern will help you make some money for college. You can use this for the initial semester until you get a grant or aid.

Apply for Financial Aid

Colleges offer financial aid and monetary assistance to students. You can fill out the required documents and submit it at the earliest. Meanwhile, collect a few letters of recommendation from your previous education centers and employers. These recommendation letters can help you when you join college for an advanced degree.

Check for Scholarships

Some States and Governments also offer scholarships to students. Also, try to work hard during the initial semesters in order to get a scholarship or finance aid. You can discuss the issue with your education adviser and professors in the college. They will be able to help you in this regard. They can also offer a good recommendation if you do well in the academics or sport activities.

Part time Job with College

Most students in US and other countries take up part time jobs. This is a good way to make some money for college and fees. You can work in flexible hours and weekends. Employers ask for a minimum 10-20 hours a week commitment from college grads and students.

On Campus Jobs for Students

You can also work as a research assistant or teaching assistant in your college. You will assist your professors and get money. Moreover, it also helps you excel in the academics. You will also be able to avoid student loan in this process. As an assistant, you will work on campus. Hence, there is no wastage of time for commute. You work before or after classes. It also helps you gather material for your own studies.

Avoid Expenses on Supplies

Avoid too much expenditure on college supplies that have little use. Use the free public libraries for books and online resources. College libraries have a good collection of academic books. If you have to buy a book, check for used books and cheap deals on Amazon, EBay or Craigslist. You can also use these sites to buy used laptops, books, backpacks and more.

Likewise, when you are short of cash and studying on a budget, avoid too many trips to the movies, shopping and outdoor dining. Do not feel bad for yourself. Instead, you can motivate yourself to study well and get good grades. With a degree in higher education, you can get a good job and use the salary for your hobbies and entertainment.

Thus, all these tips will help you save some money and get along with your higher education. If possible, try to get an internship at a good company. If you are a good student, employers will be happy to hire you. They will let you work part time until you finish your degree and then hire you full time. Be active in college activities and events. All these will help you get good opportunities to make money while you study.
