Court Summon Served to God

August 13, 2012  by: Paulose  Points: 15   Category: Others    Views: 402

Can you believe that a court summon was sent to god demanding that god should submit a written explanation within three days as to why there had been no rains in that particular area. Though it may look funny and unbelievable it portrays the weakness in the judiciary procedures and human failures.

A court notice has been officially sent to Lord Indra, the Hindu god of rains, asking Him to explain within three days as to why adequate rains did not occur in the Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh (UP), during this monsoon season. Is this a mischief or mockery played at the government procedures or against human beliefs? The government officials are still unable to trace the whereabouts.

The court serves notice to Lord Indra, God of rain

Times of india dated 7th August, 2012, has reported about this mischief played in the north Indian state Uttar Pradesh. The notice has been typed in the official format and terminology, normally used by the government when it issues a summon. It is also duly stamped and signed by the concerned judicial authority, the Sub-District Magistrate of Savayajpur tehsil, in the Hardoi district.

The envelope containing the summon notice is addressed as, “To, Lord Indra, the God of rains, Heaven”. It was sent to a revenue clerk, named Swatantra Kumar, directing him to find out the addressee and serve the summon personally to Lord Indra. The clerk returned the notice with the remark that it could not be delivered due to “technical reasons”. In fact, the concerned magistrate was on leave. Reports say that the notice was really a mischief, with fake stamp and forging signature.

The charge sheet against the god

Lord Indra is the Lord of Rains, according to the Hindu mythology. There was no adequate rain in the district during this monsoon. The notice expressed great disappointment, since there had been no rains in spite of the clouds appearing in the sky. The notice warned that stern action would be taken if the god failed to submit an explanation within three days, stating the reasons for inadequate rains.

Earlier incidents of summoning gods to court

Earlier in 2007, an Indian judge has summoned two Hindu gods, Lord Rama and Lord Hanuman, to help resolve a 20-year-old property dispute in the coal mining town of Dhanbad, in the eastern Indian state Jharkhand. The disputed land had been donated to the gods as per official records. The notices were published in newspapers, as per the accepted custom of serving an Indian legal notice.

God sending summons

It is interesting to note that god also sends summons occasionally. The Bible states such an incident in the Book of Isaiah. “Bring forth the people who are blind, yet have eyes, who are deaf, yet have ears! 9 Let all the nations gather together, and let the peoples assemble. Who among them can declare this, and show us the former things? Let them bring their witnesses to justify them, and let them hear and say, It is true. (Isaiah 43:8-9)

God is always protecting humanity. It is the human elements that go against His laws and rise against Him.

Oh, this is something I am hearing for the first time. I never thought at least in India anyone would dare and ask questions to the gods as India has a huge history and a rich culture. Our saints and sages have been known to speak with gods like we humans do. But what you described in your article seems hard to believe.
