Samsung has recently launched the latest design Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 which is far better in use and inbuilt excellent features. Basically it will support GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS and works on 2G GSM network and 3G HSDPA net work. It runs on Android v4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system powered with 1.4 GHz Quad-core processor.

Network:

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 is a tablet with support for GSM voice communication, SMS, and MMS. Operating frequency bands of any mobile phone is the key part of its specification. The supported frequency bands only determine whether a certain handset is compatible with a certain network carrier. The operating frequency brands of this phone in 2G network are GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, in the 3G network are HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100.

Body and Display:

The dimensions of the tablet are 262 x 180 x 8.9 mm. It weighs about 600 grams. The type of the touch screen is PLS TFT capacitive touchscreen with 16M colours. Capacitive touch screens work by recognizing the electrical properties of the human body instead of pressure and generally we can’t use stylus in capacitive touch screens and so handwriting recognition is not allowed in capacitive touch screens. But capacitive touch screens are more sensitive than resistive touch screens. But in this tablet we can use a special pen like stylus.

The screen size is 10.1 inches with approximately 149 ppi pixel density. Pixel density refers to the concentration of pixels on a particular display, measured in pixels per inch (ppi). Pixel density is calculated by dividing the diagonal pixel resolution of a display by its diagonal size. The screen resolution of the tablet is 800 x 1280 pixels.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface. The constant tracking of the multiple points allows the mobile phone interface to recognize gestures, which enable advanced functionality such as pinch-to-zoom.

Memory:

The tablet comes with a microSD card slot. The external memory can be extended up to 64GB. The internal memory of the phone is also very high. It comes with different types of internal memories like 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. It also comes with 2GB Random Access Memory. This is the first tablet to come with a 2GB RAM. The features of the phonebook include Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.

Connectivity:

Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 N8000 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS Class 12 version technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. The speed of internet connection is HSDPA, 21 Mbps; HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps. It is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. Infra red port is present.

Camera:

The tablet has a very powerful camera. It comes with 5 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The picture quality is superb. The features of the camera include LED flash, auto focus, geo-tagging, face and smile detection etc. There is a secondary camera on the front with 1.9MP to make video calls. The tablet records videos with the resolution of 720p and at the speed of 30fps.

Features:

OS:

OS is an infrastructure operating component of a smartphone. It is the vital component of a smartphone as it controls all the basic operations of a smartphone. This phone comes with Android OS, v4.0.3 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

CPU, Chipset and GPU:

The CPU is 1.4 GHz. The processor is the main computing component of a tablet or phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some powerful smartphones or tablets use dual core and quad core processors. This tablet uses a quad core processor. The GPU of the tablet is is Mali - 400MP. It comes with Exynos 4412 Chipset.

Sensors, Radio, GPS and Java:

The tablet has sensors like Accelerometer, proximity, gyro, compass etc. GPS is also available with A-GPS support and GLONASS. Global Positioning System is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Java is available via Java MIDP emulator. It has no radio.

Key Features:

The model is available in different colours – Black and White/Silver. It supports microSIM card. The key features of the phone include Beats Audio, SNS integration, MP4/H.263/H.264/WMV player, MP3/eAAC+/WMA/WAV player, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Document viewer, Voice memo/dial, Predictive text input etc.

S-Pen:

The S Pen stylus is what gives the tablet its name. Having debuted on the 5.3-inch Galaxy Note, and later in a new shape on the original Note 10.1, the S Pen has been redesigned yet again. The biggest difference is it's now square in shape, with softly rounded corners, for a much more comfortable hold. It's shorter too and has gotten rid of the attaching clip found on the previous Note tablet's stylus. Not that anyone will miss it - the stylus compartment is by far the better solution. There's a button on the side of the S Pen, which can be used to perform certain actions and enable gestures, but we'll get to that later on.

The white tip is on a spring too, and you can press it against the screen of the Note 10.1 without worrying you'll damage it. That's good to know as chances are you'll be pressing it quite often - the digitizer can sense various degrees of pressure, which is an important feature when drawing. The Galaxy Note 10.1 also supports palm rejection - it can sense when your palm rests on the display when writing or drawing and ignores it. Another cool feature of the S Pen is that it doesn't need to be touching the screen for the tablet to know where you are pointing it. This is especially useful in apps like the preinstalled Adobe Photoshop Touch, which displays a cursor to help you make selections and aim.

Battery:

The tablet is powered by standard Li-Ion 7000 mAh battery.

Market Status:

This model was announced on August, 2012. It was released on August, 2012. It is still not available in the Indian markets. Samsung has planned to release this product in India on August 24, 2012.
