Operating frequency bands of any mobile phone is the key part of its specification. The supported frequency bands only determine whether a certain handset is compatible with a certain network carrier. The operating frequency brands of this phone in 2G network are GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900.

Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 110.3 x 53.8 x 12.8 mm. It weighs about 96 grams. The type of the touch screen is TFT resisitive touch screen with 56K colours. Resistive touchscreens operate by sensing direct pressure applied by the user. It can be activated by pressing it not only with a finger but also with a stylus (unlike the competing capacitive technology). A resistive touch screen consists of a touch layer placed on top of a standard display. The touch layer normally includes two transparent electrical layers separated by a small gap. Pressing the display's surface causes the two separate layers to come into contact, which creates an electrical connection that can be sensed and located.

The screen size is 3.0 inches with approximately 155 ppi pixel density. Pixel density refers to the concentration of pixels on a particular display, measured in pixels per inch (ppi). Pixel density is calculated by dividing the diagonal pixel resolution of a display by its diagonal size. The screen resolution of the phone is 240 x 400 pixels.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface. The constant tracking of the multiple points allows the mobile phone interface to recognize gestures, which enable advanced functionality such as pinch-to-zoom.


The phone comes with microSD card slot. The external memory can be extended up to 32GB. 2GB memory card is included in the package. The internal memory of the phone is not so impressive. It comes with only 10MB internal memory. It also comes with 32MB Random Access Memory and 64MB Read Only Memory. The features of the phonebook include Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.


Nokia Asha 306 utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. But it is easy to get network access through Wi-Fi networks. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. NFC is not available.


The set has a only a basic low resolution camera. It comes with 2 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 1600x1200 pixels. The picture quality will not be so impressive. Fixed Focus feature is available. There is no secondary camera on the front to make video calls. The phone records videos at the speed of 10fps.



OS is an infrastructure operating component of a smartphone. It is the vital component of a smartphone as it controls all the basic operations of a smartphone. This phone comes with Series 40 UI OS.

Sensors, Radio, GPS and Java:

The phone has Accelerometer sensor. GPS is not available. Java is available. It has Stereo FM radio with RDS.

Call Management Features:

Call management features include Speed dialling, Logs of dialled, received and missed calls, Conference calling, Integrated hands-free speakers, Automatic answer, Call waiting, Call diverting, and Fixed dialling number support.

Key Features:

The model is available in different colours – Silver White, Red, Mid Blue, Dark Grey. It supports microSIM card. The key features of the phone include SNS integration, MP4/H.264/H.263/WMV player, MP3/WAV/WMA/AAC player, Organizer, Voice memo, Predictive text input etc.


The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1110 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 600 hours. The talk time is up to 14 hours. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smart phone like this. The music playback time is up to 40 hours.

Market Status:

This model was announced on June, 2012. It was released on July, 2012.
