No matter how much we try no styling can do justice with the hair that is limp and thin. Lack of volume in hair can steal away the life from even the best styled hair. Voluminous hair not only complements our hair style but also glamorize our look instantly. Hairs that are full of volume and bounce can make even a moderate hairstyle look attractive. Lack of volume in hair can top among the worst hair problems the reason why the people spend open heartedly in buying a hair Volumizing product and are regularly following up in the saloon. The problem can look tricky and tedious but the solution to it is following certain steps towards achieving your bouncy locks.
Creating volume through hair cut
Haircut–
The most important step is to consider is to get shorter hair. Achieving bounce in long tresses is a bit difficult owing to their weight; this additional weight makes it harder to lift and thus tends to fall flat. Having shorter hair with various steps cut into it is the best way to create volume in straight hair.
Cut it up –
Curly hair looks voluminous naturally hence investing in some big heater rollers can instantly lift up your hair and create magic for your hair. Divide your hair in small sections; wrap the roller close to the roots to set them firmly. After removing the rollers, use your finger to untwist the locks to let them bounce naturally.
Creating volume naturally through hair care products
Continuous and more frequent use of shampoo and conditioner can steal away the natural volume of hair. It is important to wash your hair less frequently and clean your hair and scalp to avoid any residue of the product to accumulate. Using a clarifying shampoo can help in removing any product buildup which can otherwise make your hair look limp and lifeless. The volume comes naturally when you shampoo the root and condition to the end. Over conditioning of root can be another reason for limp locks.
Choosing a product that is right for hair’s natural texture is another important step to consider along with the haircut. There are numerous volume creating and lifting products, but care should be taken while making the final selection. There are certain Volumizing product that coats your hair, as a result hair becomes heavy and falls flat lacking. For those with fine and straight hair, go for a mousse or styling iron to create bounce and life in your hair. People who are blessed with naturally curly and thick hair can apply gel to get voluminous hairs.
Creating volume through technique
Hair brushing –
Always use a large round hair brush running from the root to tip. Twisting the tips with round brush can also add a lift. Back combing or combing your hairs with your head upside down can also add instant volume to your hair.
Blow Drying –
After drying with a towel, tussle dry your hair with running your fingers through them, blow drying can be done after that. It is important to note that we should not use any brush or styling tool while blow drying until the hairs are 80% dry, instead use your finger to lift your hair while drying. Aiming hair dryer at the hair brush first dries the roots to encourage volume in your hair or hang your head upside down to dry it. After drying use a round thermal brush and style your hairs. Styling can be set by spraying the roots with finishing spray avoiding the ends of hair as it will flatten the style.
Creating volume by using food items
Raw Eggs
One of the most effective and common methods to add volume to your hair is application of raw eggs on your hair. Beat one egg for medium length hair and two eggs for long hair in a bowl. Apply it all over your hair and cover it with a towel or shower cap for 20 minutes or longer. Rinse it with cold water and then use your regular shampoo and dry to see how your hair transform and bounce naturally.
Apple Cider Vinegar
Apply a mixture of one part apple cider vinegar and 4 part water on clean hair. Wait for a few minutes and then rinse. This mixture extracts all the residual hair care products making hair cleaner and smoother allowing them to flaunt their natural volume.
Baking Soda
Another secret ingredient that adds life to dry and brittle hair lacking volume is baking soda. Mix equal parts of baking soda and shampoo with water in your palm. Massage it on wet hair and scalp and let the treatment stay for a few minutes. Rinse your hairs and apply conditioner, comb your hair while wet and then rinse off the conditioner with cold water. Baking soda helps in removing the build up of shampoo, conditioner and excess natural oil on the hair shaft. Use this treatment to get hair that is clear, livelier and bouncier.
