When to Celebrate the Chocolate Day?

World Chocolate Day is celebrated on 4th September. National Chocolate Day is celebrated on 28th October. Dates of this sweet celebrations vary due to occasions and countries. But it is good to think of its benefits at any time.


The World Chocolate Day was celebrated first on 4th September, 2003. Today, various events are organised on that day to promote chocolate business and highlight the benefits of chocolate. The day itself was chosen because it is the birthday of the Italian founder, Valeria Lo Iacono, who wanted it to be a fun holiday.

When is the Chocolate Day?

Festivals such as Easter and Christmas have been unofficial Chocolate Days when chocolate is sold on a mass scale. Dinners of special occasions have a celebrating corner for chocolate. Favorite recipes abound in number, giving chocolate various shapes and tastes. Hence celebrating Chocolate Day every now and then may be good for enhancing fun and health! Kids would love it!

Everyone knows that chocolate is primarily eaten for pleasure. But most of us are not aware of the potential health benefits of eating chocolate.

1) Chocolate helps your heart health
The substance called epicatechin present in cocoa (dark chocolate) is very helpful to the circulatory system and promotes heart health. Cocoa contains a significant antioxidant action that can protect heart against LDL oxidation.

2) Chocolate relieves stress by reducing cortisol levels
Stress is the most dangerous factor that affects health. It is triggered by release of cortisol, leading to excess secretion of insulin in the body. Researchers say that chocolate consumption reduces secretion of cortisol and promotes metabolism.

3) It helps reduce food craving
Chocolate consumption prevents overeating and food craving. In this way, chocolate can prevent you from unhealthy foods and help weight loss also.

4) Promotes sensuous pleasures
Chocolate is an aphrodisiac, enhancing your sensual pleasures. Eating chocolate itself is a pleasure for all.

5) Dark chocolate can be substituted for sugar and reduce insulin
Chocolate can be a boon to the diabetic patients since it can be substituted for refined sugar which triggers insulin secretion. Is it not a sweet news to the sugar patients?

Various studies are going on to find the benefits of chocolate in treating diseases such as diabetes and dementia. Chocolate has a brighter future with its sweeter days to come.
