Systemic lupus erythematosus is a multisystem connective tissue disease in which there is found numerous autoantibodies, circulating immune complexes and widespread immune mediated tissue damage.

Symptoms-

1. Fatigue, fever, weight loss and loss of appetite.

2. Non-erosive polyarthritis, myopathy.

3. Anaemia, leucopaenia, lymphopaenia.

4. Thrombocytopaenia, splenomegaly, hepatosplenomegaly.

5. Peripheral neuropathy.

6. Pleurisy, pericarditis and myocarditis.

7. Nephrotic syndrome, renal failure, proteinuria.

8. Conjunctivitis, episcleritis, sicca syndrome.

9. Arthralgia and myalgia.


Investigations-

1. Serological tests.

2. Immunological tests.

3. ESR test.

4. CRP test.

5. Hb test.

6. Urine test.

7. Blood urea test.

8. Serum creatinine test.

9. RA factor test.

10. Renal biopsy test.

11. MRI of brain and spinal cord.

12. Cerebrospinal fluid biopsy test.

13. TLC, DLC tests.
14. Peripheral blood smear test.
