Network:

Operating frequency bands of any mobile phone is the key part of its specification. The supported frequency bands only determine whether a certain handset is compatible with a certain network carrier. The operating frequency brands of this phone in 2G network are GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900, in the 3G network are HSDPA 900 / 2100 - ST23i, HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 - ST23a.

Body and Display:

The dimensions of the phone are 113 x 59.4 x 9.9 mm. It weighs about 110 grams. The type of the touch screen is LED-backlit LCD, capacitive touch screen with 16M colours. Capacitive touch screens work by recognizing the electrical properties of the human body instead of pressure and generally we can’t use stylus in capacitive touch screens and so handwriting recognition is not allowed in capacitive touch screens. But capacitive touch screens are more sensitive than resistive touch screens.

The screen size is 3.5 inches with approximately 165 ppi pixel density. Pixel density refers to the concentration of pixels on a particular display, measured in pixels per inch (ppi). Pixel density is calculated by dividing the diagonal pixel resolution of a display by its diagonal size. The screen resolution of the phone is 320 x 480 pixels.

It has multitouch feature also. Multitouch refers to the ability of a touch sensing surface to recognize the presence of two or more points of contact with the touch sensing surface. The constant tracking of the multiple points allows the mobile phone interface to recognize gestures, which enable advanced functionality such as pinch-to-zoom. The touchscreen is protected by Scratch-resistant glass - Anti-reflective coating.

Memory:

The phone has a microSD card slot. The external memory can be extended up to 32GB using a microSD card. The internal memory of the phone is also good. It comes with 4GB internal memory. But only 2.2GB is user available. The phone also comes with 512MB Random Access Memory. The features of the phonebook include Unlimited entries, Caller groups, Multiple numbers per contact, Search by both first and last name, Picture ID, Ring ID etc.

Connectivity:

Sony Xperia miro utilizes both EDGE and GPRS technologies in order to connect to cellular networks. But it is easy to get access to Internet through both Wi-Fi networks as well as HSPDA connections. It has the facility of Bluetooth connection and micro USB which help to connect with other hardware devices directly or indirectly. NFC is not available.

Camera:

The set has a very powerful camera. It comes with 5 Megapixel primary camera. The camera has the resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels. The picture quality is superb. The features of the camera include LED flash, auto focus, Geo-tagging, touch focus, face and smile detection, 3D sweep panorama etc. There is a secondary camera on the front with 0.3MP (VGA) to make video calls. Normally VGA cameras are not suitable for video calling. The camera records videos at the rate of 30fps. The video features include video light, video stabilization, continuous autofocus etc.

CPU, GPU and Chipset:

The CPU is 800 MHz Cortex-A5. The processor is the main computing component of a phone and is a major factor when it comes to the overall speed of the device. Some powerful smartphones use dual core and quad core processors. The phone comes with Qualcomm MSM7225A chipset. The GPU of the phone is Adreno 200.

Sensors, Radio, GPS and Java:

The phone has sensors like Accelerometer, proximity, compass, barometer etc. GPS is also available with A-GPS support. Global Positioning System is a space-based satellite navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather, anywhere on or near the Earth, where there is an unobstructed line of sight to four or more GPS satellites. Java is available via Java MIDP emulator. It has Stereo FM Radio with RDS.

Key Features:

The model is available in only different colours – Black, Pink, White with silver, White with gold. It supports microSIM card. The key features of the phone include SNS integration, MP4/H.263/H.264 player, MP3/eAAC+/WAV player, TrackID music recognition, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Document viewer, Voice memo/dial/commands, Predictive text input etc.

Battery:

The phone is powered by standard Li-Ion 1910 mAh battery. The stand by time provided by the battery is up to 470 hours in 2G networks and up to 545 hours in 3G networks. The talk time is up to 5 hours in 2G networks and up to 6 hours in 3G networks. The stand by time and talk time are good for a smart phone like this.

Market Status:

This model was announced on June, 2012. It was released on September, 2012.
